Aaaaw - that's a really lovely thought, thank you so much. Although, with the PA at The Mem not being that clear in some parts of the ground, I can imagine that people might hear my name and think that I'm already dead. I'm actually giggling at the idea of "Sorry for your loss" cards popping through the letter box, whilst I'm sitting on the sofa, watching Homes Under the Hammer - sorry, I have a warped sense of humour! In fact, this scenario could have the bare bones of a script for Inside No 9.  It's really helped me to read the good wishes from so many people on here - I know I've been a bit of a pain in the rear end at times, so it is very much appreciated - I've gone all warm and fuzzy while reading them. Best wishes for your health Gashead73 - you're obviously a top fella, with kindness in his heart. xx You have never been a pain and, going on my own experiences, it is a very good thing to have that warped sense of humour. One thing i hold onto is that medicine is moving forward with great speed and, due to the virus, many new and trial drugs are being fast tracked. Just to update anybody who's wondering how long before I pop my clogs! Saw the Consultant Oncologist today, I can't have Chemotherapy as my kidneys are not strong enough. However, the rediotherapy has worked really well, and continues to zap cell for 3 months following the end of treatment. Recent scan showed that there are still cancer cells which need zapping, will have a scan in three months time and review the position. She seemed quite positive, said that they are looking to get rid of all the cells, not just buy me time. The Chemo was going to be a sort of belt and braces thing, but would do more harm than good. Of course, as it's an incurable cancer it may well rear it's head at some point in the future, they can't give any sort of timescale, so I won't be dwelling on it, I'll deal with it if it happens. Thanks to everybody for your support - it really means a lot, and does help me to stay positive. Sam Finley recorded nice video messages from a few of the players, which was nice of him, and Pete from the shop has kept in touch. We do have some lovely people at the club. You are not alone Tilly, although a different disease, all that can be done is to slow it down but it’s my mindset that has changed. When i think of the many people, many much younger than i, who have passed, Gregsgas comes to mind, then i just think how lucky i have been and am. I know it’s a massive cliche but it really is each day as it comes. Keep up with the gallows humour, that is something i learned from Eastville. Take care and be kind to yourself |

Hi Tilly, jes wanted ta pop my well wishes to yous after reading yer update.
Proud of yous TT, I often think what it’s really like ta be fightin something like this, an I’m sure some of th great replies must lift yous, but I also know that when th dust settles it must be hard as f**k, yous come across as a real funny lass on here, kind, respectful as well as known ta hold yer corner a few times too 😂
Make sure ye find someone ta confide in/talk to if it’s gets tough or yer jes havin a really bad day lass, an lastly channel yer determination ta yer amazing son who I knows yer so proud of, he’ll be hurtin too I bet, yous fight yer ass off for him Tilly an this bastard of a disease ain’t got a chance 💪🏼

I saw the Oncologist today, and the latest scan shows that all the cancer has gone - I'VE BEATEN IT!!! Of course, being incurable cancer it may well re-grow. There are cells stuck to the bone and a main artery. which they couldn't remove, but they're dormant and giving normal readings. I'm not dwelling on that, if it happens, I'll just have to kick ass again. I'll be having check ups every 3 months, so am in excellent hands. I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everybody on here for your kindness and support, you have no idea how much it means, to me, and also my family. The Rovers promotion team also inpired me, they showed that the impossible was in fact possible, and I hung on to that during the darker times. If I could, I'd go into the dressing room and give each and every one of them a massive "thank you" hug. Let's have The Mem rocking tomorrow night (even the South West Stand) - and 3 points to finish off a perfect 48 hours for me! Love y'all. P.S. - maybe a mod could add "update" to the thread title? |
