We were relegated because Torquay weren’t interested in giving Northampton a competitive game. They were safe and sent their loan players back early including the striker from Spurs who had such an imact on them I have to disagree. We were relegated because we weren’t good enough.

A football club can blame failure to avoid relegation or promotion on another club failing to do their job on a given day all they like but a football season is over 46 league games. If a club doesn’t do their job in all of those games then that’s that!

We lost our last game home to Mansfield and Torquay lost their last home game to Wycombe. What's it to do with Northampton?

Well this play off final features two clubs who could not be more different! One of them expect to be promoted the other i suspect delighted and a little surprised to be there. Wycombe gave a good account of themselves following there promotion by default and you have to admire them for getting this close again don't you? I know we have a bit of history re the thunder game but nowt to do with them when we got relegated. One of those clubs who enjoy upsetting the hierarchy, aka Wimbledon before them and it would not surprise me if they did it again today, don't mind who wins really , Sunderland for there long suffering fans, Wycombe for punching way above there weight, and they had Akinfenwa, legend if there was ever was one!

Just checked that season. Torquay won 2-1 at Northampton in Aug 2013 and Northampton won 2-1 at Torquay in Feb 2014. Manager of Torquay was none other than Chris Hargreaves.

No ill feeling to Mansfield from me, that Rovers squad were an utter disgrace. Regularly knackered after an hour and didn’t have a prayer going into the final stages of any game (Wycombe aside as they were just as bad) Mansfield did everything they could to let us win that game, we hit the post twice, bar twice, put around 6 crosses into the old blackthorn end & no less than 3 occasions in the second half Mansfield broke with 4 on 2 and basically let us have the ball back!
The club also thought it wise to host some kind of community carnival around the pitch pre match as if we were bang mid table and nothing to play for. We deserved to go down.

Well Sunderland deservedly winning at the break, but should be more than one up. Still not over though and you can never tell with Wycombe.

Lucky Wycombe, that was a blatant penalty! What is the point in VAR?
