Hopefully the family get some time to mourn in private now. Huge responsibility for the young soldiers carrying the Queen's coffin, eyes of the world upon them, and they don't put a foot wrong.

Unfortunately, sleepygas is right, events at Anfield showed why the authorities were nervous about games going ahead last Sat, they were obliged to cut the silence short because of disturbances, similar scenario at Wrexham, folk may want to gloss over it, but it cannot be denied. just what this remarkable lady did to invite such disrespect is beyond me and i suspect many others, but it's football and therefore all is forgiven. Why on earth are the national press reporting that it was impeccably observed at Anfield? It's like they are afraid of criticising Liverpool, imagine if that had happened at Leeds or Millwall - they would have been all over it. Pathetic that they defined it as a moment's silence - couldn't be trusted for one whole minute. I can understand why Liverpool fans are anti-Government, but can't really see how this connects to the monarchy. The journey to Westminster Abbey this afternoon was a sight to behold. I can't imagine what it must be like to have to do so much in the public eye after losing a parent - respect to Charles particularly for this. Quite right Tilly, despite what the posts by GGMI, pirate and nonsense in attachment say there is a big difference between GOV/monarchy, that's the whole point! as has been pointed out though, this is not the place for the debate, but somethings cannot go unanswered.

Watched it, in Mallorca this afternoon. What a ceremony. Even the horses behaved, and didn't those drummers keep perfect timing? Must admit to shedding more than a few tears.

If you don’t mind me asking, will she be in a wheelchair or anything? I plan on going to see the coffin but seeing where the queue starts depresses me. Also not sure when I’ll have to time to do it as well. Maybe Friday night if trains will be running. For me I just feel like I’ll always regret it if I don’t go
Not in a wheel chair thankfully but she is approaching 60 and suffers from fibromyalgia so being on her feet for a full day isnt something I can see happening. I also have a grade 3 ACL tear so i'm not able to carry around chairs and brollies etc..
My Father and Mrs arnt interested in making the trip either so it just leaves us two to soldier on fighting the elements.
I echo your last sentence it is a once in a life time event and will never be repeated in our life time so im determined to make it work for her.
I found a travellouge hotel fairly close by for £60 a night so i'm thinking I might book that for Sunday night and get up nice and early Monday for the funeral, see if i can been beat the herd for a good view.
Yeah fair enough on that, seems like a solid plan. Gonna wait a few days to see how it all pans out but BBC saying something like 30 hours to see the coffin, yeah.. that’s not happening

It’s been moved to General Chat now so will become a free for all. I’ve never been a fan of the royal family but have remained respectful throughout as simply she was someone’s mother, grandmother aunt etc etc. The thing I struggle to defend though, is her use of tax payers money to pay someone off millions of pounds to protect her paedophile son. Does someone who uses their vast wealth and influence to defend paedophiles really deserve 10 days of mourning etc?

How can the royal family be held accountable for police lies and cover ups? Because they are beneficiaries of an unaccountable State who are used for the purposes of propaganda. Buy it if you choose.

I hope no-one minds me saying this. I have, in my disrespectful moments, wondered what might happen if they actually dropped the coffin. Would never happen with our disciplined troops of course, but they must be slightly nervous about unforeseen trips and falls. I remember the funeral of Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran. The Revolutionary Guards dropped the coffin, his body fell out, and hundreds of worshippers swooped on him to touch his revered body. Shots had to be fired to disperse the crowd and they bundled the fellow into a helicopter to keep the body safe. Can't see that happening here, but forewarned is forearmed.

Blimey , really I didn’t Know that !? The queen had 8 blokes for a small woman … 8 st max ? Recently did my own mother with my 3 siblings and she was probably 11 stone . Not much chance of 8 burley blokes collapsing under the weight on this occasion I think !

I sort of hold my breath every time the coffin is carried. Dreading one stumble or loss of balance. Must be nerve wracking, no matter how much they’ve practiced.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Queen’s coffin is reinforced and specially designed not to break in the case of something like that happens. Not based on anything, just a hunch.

I am due to be at the Royal United Hospital for 7 hours on Monday. I have to have a small amount of radioactive fluid injected, and then have blood tests after two, three, four and 5 hours. This is to check if my kidneys are string enough for Chemotheropy. The hospital phoned me this morning to confirm that the appointment will go ahead. I also received my daily radiotherapy on the August bank holiday. This is my personal experience, not propaganda. God bless the NHS.
