If the stand holds 4K, would make sense there is 2K from SW to half way around the L Then another break in seats with 1K remaining nearest the away terrace.
Standard set up Home 3K (less a few for segregation) Away 1K seats FA Cup/Big Away Home 2K Away 2K (less a few for segregation) Low following All 4K for Gas. Away in terrace only. IMAGINE!

Isn't there some league dictate that a certain percentage of away tickets are for seated area.

Regarding the height issue and any possible objections. Do the club still own any properties in alton Road or were they sold off?

Pretty sure we wont try and go much/any higher unless the morivation is to get objections and not planning?! Think the West side of the new stand could be considerably bigger /higher with the West stand already much higher. Maybe the SW and corner bit are nearer 1.5-2k meaning only 800-1500 need adding in the new south stand?

Looking on google earth there seems to be an area of wasteland to the south/south west of the south stand. Its not big ( and looks like it has a couple of kids trampolines in it). Not sure if rovers own it but if cleared would give a bit better access to any new south stand.

Hopefully the area where the big screen is will get some attention, it's a dump.

Maybe that could set a precedent on allowed Height. In some ways I would have thought this was beneficial to residents on Alton Road. They will be more sheltered from the noise , people prying into their homes/gardens and wayward shots.

So how high was the south stand on the plans when they were going to build students accommodation on the plans to help with build costs, looking at the old photos of the plans the south stand was twice the height of what it is now, did we not get planning permission for these plans with regards height of south stand?

i had a look around the back of the south stand with TG a few years back and there is hardly any room to go backwards, the stand goes neaarly up to the rear bounday. you coukld move the pitch forward a bit to allow more room for a bigger stand but that is limited as well because the side of the stand would block viewing from the side of the ground. So i think it would be very difficult to increase capacity from 1,300 to 4,000, the south west and south stands would have to be trebled in size. Brtight needs re- think his maths.

Yes, we did have planning permission for the 18.5K stadium with built in student accomodation.
As you said, the proposed height was much taller than the current South Stand, probably around the height of the East / West stands, but on all four sides. Imagine that!

That's all we can do.

Brtight needs re- think his maths. trying to find some planning stuff on when we were 'trying' to build a new centenary Stand as phase 1 of a Mem redevelopment. I am sure I recall some planning stuff for the various phases as trying to work out what could go/was going to go at the South end Bristol Rovers Football Club has appointed The Miller Partnership as architects for phase one of the redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium - the ground it shares with Bristol Rugby Club.
The football club will be applying for planning permission for the £5m redevelopment of the Centenary Stand within the next eight weeks and hopes to secure a grant for the majority of the financing from the Football Foundation.
The stand, which currently seats 1,120 will be demolished and replaced with one with a capacity of 6,000. It will also include 20,000sq ft of commercial and catering space.
Work is expected to begin at the close of the season in May 2004 and should be completed by Christmas of the same year.
Phases two and three will involve the redevelopment of the North Stand - which will be converted from terraces to seating for 5,000 and include 13,000sq ft of commercial space - and replacing the temporary, 1,000-capacity South Stand with a permanent 3,000-seat stand. Details: +44 (0)7970 677812
