Whilst looking at the google images you can gauge the pitch could move possibly 9 yards north. Other adjustments would need making to accommodate this. Such as the angle of the floodlights or installing extra lights. The Alton rd residents are to the south of the stadium so available sunlight will not be changed no matter how high the stand is. Dont forget our original plans had a 2 tiered stand that end. Also if the rest of the ground is to stay as it is then extending the Thatchers roof down the east stand (where that temp seating was for a year). Would also reduce uncovered areas to a minimum and improve the atmosphere.

I think we're possibly over thinking the size of this thing, it's going to be a cheapish temporary stand, it won't mean knocking other stands down or moving the pitch, it won't need a lift to get top the top tier or anything like that.

The North End roof cannot be extended down the East Terrace as it will block the view from the East Stand.

We can’t be over thinking the size as it’s been stated it’s going to have approx 4000 seats . That’s a lot bigger than what’s there at present and it’ll be interesting to see how they manage to build something that can hold 4K on that footprint.

Reckon (not so) Bright slipped 4K out by accident. Expect "due to planning requirements" something nearer 2.5K in reality. Depends how big we can make the west side of the new stand!

I can't see how it can be done without moving the pitch (which I think would be a good thing, atmosphere wise).

Not a large time frame either to get it all sorted.Anyway so lovely to be talking about ground improvements for the first time since the Flintstones. Attachments:

Easy peasy.

I personally think planning will be accepted with some objections. If you can put up a 7000 temp stand in Bath and a 8000 stand at the County ground . And the height of the stands at Ashton then we should be approved. I also think the ' political groups ' in Horfield opposed to retail will be totally contradicting themselves if they back local objections. Maybe the 4000 was an ambition. Once these companies who are excellent in doing these things come up with a realistic number . It will then go to planning based on detailed professional recommendations. We should know that capacity once it appears on BCC planning portal. arenagroup.com/project/bath-rugby-club/

If all goes to plan I can see it being the same design and size as Clement Foot (French Ligue 2 sides) stand (roughly 3,300 capacity) - will post a picture when I can....

Big deal! Does the club expect us Gasheads to jump for joy? I wouldn't do that too much when you're in it.

This forum is great, who would have thought that we had this many planners and architects as members! UTG! It's fun to have something to speculate on. I have no doubt something can be built down and around there with work and some reconfiguration and time, for anything to happen in the time frame mentioned, I can't see what can go there (wrapping around the corner as suggested) with the obstacles there with minimal effort. This forum is great, who would have thought that we had this many planners and architects as members! UTG! What else can we get excited about as gasheads ? . My realistic dream is to maintain division one football and have a big south stand . Imagine if we play Birmingham City next year and get 13000 ?.

Looking on google earth there seems to be an area of wasteland to the south/south west of the south stand. Its not big ( and looks like it has a couple of kids trampolines in it). Not sure if rovers own it but if cleared would give a bit better access to any new south stand. If it really is wasteland (although someone must own it).we could do something like the old Dell at Southampton. Don't laugh. Brentford already have. It was owned by the club when the club owned the two properties at the top of Alton Road. Back in the noughties Westbury homes offered £1m for the land and the 2 houses which was correctly turned down. Somebody said that the club no longer owns the two houses, not sure if that is correct.

Let's hope that game isnt too early in the season, allow time to 1) finish it 2) deal with the ticketing issues 3) deal with the subsequent turnstile issues. Maybe March 2024
