View AttachmentKnow it will only be very basic but was amazed at what they had to do recently at Fulham with cranes having to be floated in the Thames. Anything however modest will be an improvement on the awful, embarrassing and very old South Tent monstrosity. Let's be honest, knocking it down and replacing it with a mural like Arsenal did at Highbury many years ago would be an improvement aesthetically. 😇

Has this new South Stand actually been given the go ahead? No !. The club haven't finalised it or it's not gone to the mandatory 90 day planning at BCC. Even the tents needed to go to full planning allowing objections and lots of planning reports. BCC aren't even validating small scale residential developments for well over two months (meant to be determined in two months) so they definitely need to get a wiggle on if they want to get this sorted for next season.

If an application went in on 1 March that would put us into June, leaving 6 weeks to take down and build before the season starts. Cutting it fine. Is that how it works, or could we start with our fingers crossed?? The TG interview i read had him saying it would be in place for next season. They are currently getting quotes and 3d pics done. We will see them when done. Been a while since we had a 3d pic to look at. If we have a wrap-around metal roofed new South-Southwest stand planned, approved, built, finished, tested and ready for occupation by August 23 I will be surprised. No, astonished. What is the possibility of this being a bit of a crumb thrown to the fans, a crumb we will never hear of again until the next time they need to quell a rebellion with some 'news'? The lot at the top have form in this area. Yes, even Wael. 😱

However if the footprint is different even slightly, surely that needs planning permission and then throws up questions of access, safety, delivery etc, etc. I imagine it doesn't take massively long to bolt the stands together if you have permission, it's all the associated bits to actually do it. Like you I would be amazed if something was there for the first game of the season. so please amaze me BRFC

If it’s temporary does it even need planning?

If it’s temporary does it even need planning? Because there will be changes to dimension, height, location and the number of seats, it will need to go through all the rigours of a process that a permanent stand would have to go through. That said, it should be a relatively straightforward process.

That said, it should be a relatively straightforward process. Any increase of capacity could be an issue as the last time the South Stand was extended no increase in capacity was allowed, just the extra seating. That said, some have said that the club chose to reduce the capacity, which I find strange, so it might not be the issue it had been in the past.

Should be a shoe-in as it’s just replacing an existing structure , unless it was going to be twice the size & height ( which it won’t be !)

Surely the club isn't going to just replace the South West Stand with one with identical dimensions?

Obvs not and I didn’t write that. 🙄 It’s probably not going to be twice the size , maybe 20-40% bigger at a guess.

If it's going to be ready for the start of next season then it's probably not going to be as impressive as I picture it in my mind😂

If it's a different size then it will need full pp whether it's just rubber stamped or not is anybody's guess. I understood the ground capacity is due to restricted access to and from the ground so that will have to be addressed if the seating capacity is increased, unless we cut the terrace captivity in the away end.

If it's going to be ready for the start of next season then it's probably not going to be as impressive as I picture it in my mind😂 Once a decision is made to do it (which i assume has happened else TG wouldnt have mentioned it). People can quickly crack on with getting estimates etc from various companies. There is 4 months to arrange it all then a month to install it. Should easily be completed in time.
