Also Greenslade has extended his contract with us for another year, suprised this has been missed!? Harvey said: "I’m really pleased to be able to extend my stay here and I’m excited about what’s to come. I’m 100% focused on this football club and I’m working hard this off-season to be ready for the campaign ahead". www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2023/june/new-deal-for-Greenslade/ It got mentioned in another thread (the “Confirmed Squad 23/24” thread) at the time. Good news and hopeful he can kick on and become part of the team

Added to the 23/24 squad thread but agree should have been included here. I, for one, am pleased we have given him another year. Hope he gets his chance to shine.

Back to Truro City on loan and back scoring goals, this time in the National League South. Keep it going Harvey and good luck!

Didn't even realised that we'd sent him out on loan. In my view a perfect loan for him. As you say a step up in standard with a squad he's already familiar with. Fingers crossed he keeps up his good scoring record!

Apperntly I heard he was going to go Conference by all accounts with 3-4 clubs wanting him but all still trying to finalise squads and wanting a week or 2 as Rovers wanting confirmation he could get regular minutes. He wanted to go out and play asap so Truro who also wanted him before the season started said they would take him for 1 month and see what happens which suited Rovers and Truro. Signed Friday, straight in the line up on Saturday and 1 goal and 1 assist was unlucky not to get a point. saw the goal on Twitter and looked a bit of a gift but took it well ( 1 on 1 with keeper) Please take note Aaron Collins! They have Yeovil Tuesday night so may head down and take a look.

Yeovil playing Truro tomorrow night. Hope he puts a couple past them. Would love to see a Goal and as he knee slides towards their fans, he removes his Truro Shirt to reveal a T shirt saying 'It could be Worse, we could support Yeovil' #nonleague

Watched that yesterday, would love him to get a run out at the end of the season. He has bulked up and looks good. Need to give our youngsters a chance! Hopefully the new manager will help develop Harvey, Jed, Ryan Jones and Jerry Lawrence.

Everyone keeps saying it but without an 23’s squad will be very challenging I would think. Unless I’m very mistaken the pathway is u18s next step 1st team. Never going to happen unless we have missed a superstar. I just assume these guys will be forever being loaned or moved on.

It has been disappointing these last few years to see so many youngsters we have developed from a young age disappear from our ranks on reaching young adulthood. Makes you wonder why bother if we are not going to provide a pathway to the first team or do we do it just in case we unearth the next Jude Bellingham? I was wondering what the rules are concerning feeder clubs I.E can a league club adopt a local club like for example W-S-M and use it to further develop players as a stepping stone to the first team of the parent club? .At the moment i would not think our stock is very high among parents of gifted young players.

i think that saw an intereview a few months ago when JB adnitted that he had no real involvement with the youngsters and didn't know Byron Anthony that well. it was telling that in a recent video where Byron addressed the first team he actually started by introducing himself as many of the players did not know him

Especially when a big part of the sustainability of the club was meant to be finding players to sell on.

I think Matty Taylor is invest time now in the youth set up and living near to the club and Quarters, he can take in their games and training as well. If I was a parent of young teenager and looked at the path to the first team under Barton, I’d have gone elsewhere if I could. When you see Ferguson trying to sign Beckham, Penrice trawling Wolves reserves for Roberts and non league for Ellington, we were speaking to agents for pension pot players and not one bit of interest in our youth set up.

Now At Oxford City, and I went along to the Woking Game last night as was in the Camberley area! Firstly what a great Stand they have there behind the Goal, not a Beam obscuring the Pitch in sight, a great Stand for non league.
I had Seen Harvey Greenslade play twice for Truro City and he certainly looked to be handling that level with ease! last Game I saw was W-S mare vs Truro in which he scored and assisted in a 3-1 win so I was interested in seeing if the step up would cause him any problems.
It is the first non league game i had seen live in a few years since (Rovers had a Dabble down there and i was amazed how much quicker and more physical it was from National league South! Harvey was on the bench and Oxford although okay in possession didn't offer much going forwards. I had to wait for 72 minutes for Harvey's introduction and Wow what an impact. No Goals but the it was as if the team came alive. It was good to see a young lad instructing and having a go at more senior players if they didn't play him in. He was also very good in possession, Quick, Direct (Could have had a penalty), was fouled 2 /3 times around the box when going past players. Got a couple of shots off and physically held his own. I was on the whole very impressed ( my only complaint is I wish he was on for longer ) Ran his socks off and a few goals if given the opportunities and I think it wont be long before he will be back in the Rovers squad.

Thank you so much for this share and insight, sounds better than the fan playing Marquis, just running around like we all would do. He should be on the bench for us, Marquis makes me cry when I see him coming on, it feels a backward move and his miss again last night, right at the keeper sums him up.

I took thought it was a bad miss. He just had to roll it in. Instead of that he thought it would be a good idea to smash it straight at the keeper.
