Without Kane, we wouldn't have got as far as we did in 2018 WC and 2020 Euros. Yes he missed that penalty, but that doesn't mean we would have won if he did score it. Rooney was immense in his first tournament but he never turned up again after that. If he didn't play in 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014 or 2016 I doubt we would have been knocked out any earlier than we were. My favourite is ‘Kane doesn’t score when it matters’, ya know like Regular double figures in every qualifying group stage 93rd min away at Hampden 92nd min against Tunisia (WC2018) World Cup hat trick Against Colombia, World Cup knock out match World Cup golden boot winner Euro 2020 R16 Vs Germany Euro 1/4 final in Rome Extra time penalty in a major tournament Semi Final World Cup 1/4 final Vs France when 1-0 down Doesn’t even scratch the surface for his key contributions in big games for his country. Think with Kane it's more of a club and country thing. Because he's never won a trophy for either, it's easy to say he hasn't delivered when it really mattered. His goals have never helped a side win a trophy. Is it 3 goals in 14 semi finals/finals?? Losing the majority and winning nothing. Players can play worse, because of the extra pressure of never winning a trophy. I hope Kane leaves Spurs and wins some trophy's and then people can't say this anymore.

Have said it previously, whoever buys Man United will make Kane their first signing. He’s given Spurs everything & been given little in return (in regard to a team/ambition to match his quality) time for him to go and get his hands on some prizes. The guy is still 29 as well, I think people talk like he’s 33 and on his way out.

Kane fits that mould and his goals to appearances demonstrates he could smash Rooney record if he stays injury fre

BUT, When it really, REALLY mattered, the old nerve went That one time yeah but I’m pretty sure he has a lot of tournament goals where as WR has only one WCup goal. br]WR burst in to the scene in the euros I think it was 2004 and was brilliant but never really did much else in the other tournaments he played in. Kane on the other hand has been consistently good in major tournaments and the only black mark is one missed penalty which as we all know can happen. I dunno, I still haven't forgave Southgate for missing THAT penalty 🤣

Absolute bottle jobs.

Whatever, they are all fine players and they all produced great performances for England. Owen as part of that victory in Munich, Kane for his recent performances as England have done well and Shearer for Euro 1996. etc. And as for penalties, I remember Wembley 2015. They certainly count as much as others! 😉 And as the dude has just said about Gareth Southgate, the same could be said about the Euros when Saka and Rashford missed penalties when other senior players didn’t. Penalties definately count.
UTG!

What do people think now? Qualified for Euro 24.
Southgate a misunderstood maestro who qualifies for every tournament (the dark days of USA 1994 are a distant horrible memory) and gets us to the semis or finals of most comps, or just someone who is lucky enough to play against once great but now mediocre international sides, and never actually wins anything?

I'll come back to you after next year. I honestly think anything other than winning the tournament will be a failure. I think he's done a good job but not convinced he knows how to get us over the line when it matters. Hopefully Bellingham makes the difference.

Just back from the game, Bellingham in person live is even better than on tv, he’s the best player I’ve ever seen for England and I’ve watched a lot of games live for England. Kane was incredible as well.
Should have enough caps for the Euro’s in Germany, build a team around Bellingham, we can win it with this lad, he’s our Zidane.

Another level isn’t he, to anyone in his position on any pitch he steps foot on. Looking forward to a goal fest against the Maltese and then a trip to Skopje, Germany ‘24 will be another fantastic tournament I’m sure.

Well the Azzuri were not the one we played in '21 , although very nifty down the right side , but saying that I've seen enough of this England side to convince
me that we can win it , in fact atm I'd make us favourites. Has Gareth learned from his past mistakes ? If so then I look forward to our first trophy in 58 years.

With Bellingham playing behind the front 3, we’ll definitely need a 2 sat in, all the talk of letting off handbrakes & not being ‘negative’ is nonsense at this level. Leave Rice in as the only defensive minded midfielder with 5 attackers and we’d get taken to the cleaners by any decent outfit. The balance has finally been established, just a matter of who joins Dec in that sitting role.

Before you could say we were too negative only playing three attacking players but GS is never going to play the likes of Foden or Maddison in the midfield three against stronger sides. But now you have Jude who plays best in that more advanced role. I really hope Phillips can get out of Man City even if only on loan in January. Half a season of playing every week will get him back to his best making him the prefect player to play alongside Rice which in turn brings out the best in Jude.

Hopefully see you all in Skopje (assuming we get enough tickets!) 1900 initial allocation would be 32 cap cut off, I’m safe on 36. But as they’re now out of the running for second place, our allocation got to hit 2,500 at least. Surely
