Being exiled in faraway Weston super Mare, I am hoping my local team get promoted this season as Conference South is looking, potentially at least, very Somerset (West Country) orientated next season!
Current incumbents Bath City, Chippenham Town And Taunton Town likely staying put. Weston hopefully getting promoted 8 points clear with 5 games to go) and with Torquay & Yeovil (that sign at the FA Cup tie looking a little of 'careful what you wish for!!!) likely to drop down out of the National League it looks a very interesting league for 23/24.
With many of the Gas youngster's likely to be loaned out next season, hopefully I'll get an opportunity to see some good local non-league derbies when not on Gas duty, and watching some of our future stars in the process!
Just 9 years ago Yeovil were in the Championship facing the likes of Brighton, Leicester, Leeds, Forest, Bournemouth etc, next on the hallowed turf at the Optima Stadium lol

Weston won’t even want a pre season friendly with little Yeovil anymore. 😂

I might take in a few games next season. I did enjoy aspects of our non league stay and found it interesting and more accessible visiting some of the smaller clubs. On a different subject wow 2 league clubs for the entirety of Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. Definitely a football backwater!

Wasn't it Yeovil who famously said " We could be worst: we could be Bristol Rovers".I must admit I was listening to the game at Gateshead last night and notice they got Aldershot in a 6 pointer next.
If Weston go up its a big division with Torquay Yeovil Bath Chippenham. I notice in the north section Hereford went to Gloucester and there was a heavy police presence . I much perfer the lower divisions than the glamour of the elite teams. But Rovers always first!

It is also noticeable that crowds at Weston are on the increase. After many years struggling at the bottom of Conference South, crowds rarely topped 500, this season 2 over 1,000 and several about 800. With luck and the new levels of support locally could see several 2,000+ next season, who knows all ticket v Yeovil, Taunton & Torquay.

Can’t say I have particularly followed the goings on at Yeovil in recent years. What the hell has happened to them since their days in the championship? Falling four divisions that quickly takes some doing.

Can’t say I have particularly followed the goings on at Yeovil in recent years. What the hell has happened to them since their days in the championship? Falling four divisions that quickly takes some doing. Most of their success came from loan players (Tottenham if I remember rightly) who got them there but then all went back leaving them with very few Players that could keep them in that position. I do kind of feel sorry for them. But not much.

And they do not even own their own ground any more…..just to add to the fun.

They have always been a romantic big village or small town. Look forward to Weston playing them.

WSM 3-1 Winchester this evening.
A big 3 points after a couple of ropey results has put them 7 points in front at the top of SLP.

Hopefully they stop talking about them on Radio Bristol. Surely there won't be live coverage of Yeovil games in conference South will there.

WSM 3-1 Winchester this evening. A big 3 points after a couple of ropey results has put them 7 points in front at the top of SLP. Been the best side in the division by far as highlighted by the Dorchester assistant James Wood earlier this season. “I’ve been doing this quite a while and I’ve got to say that it was probably one of the most complete teams I’ve seen at this level. “Quality from back to front, an excellent side and the best we’ve played this year by a mile – a side in my view that will win the league comfortably. “I thought they were an absolutely excellent side and credit to them."

Good to see Mark Mckeever still at Weston as 'Head Of Coaching'. One of my favourite Gas players from the late 90's, in his 1st stint here on loan, superb talent, shame injuries ended his pro career.

Tuesday a 4-1 home win for WsM, Champions, and a 3-0 defeat at Hollywood Wrexham confirms that the 2 will meet in National League South.
10 years after a local derby with the Teds, will now face somewhat lesser local rivals in Bath, Taunton & Weston.
I’ll be spoilt for choice in my alternative games to watch next season
