Not strictly football related but had to tell you this great ditty, my partner lectures/teaches music at Manchester University and attends many live gigs which I get dragged to if I want to or not. Believe me I have witnessed some dross. Anyway cut a long story short she took me to see a band from Bristol called The Town, I can’t say I knew or even heard of them prior. But 600+ people bought tickets and packed a cramped hall to bursting point. Noel Gallagher was there and a few other faces. Apparently The Town are the next big thing ? I have to admit that they were excellent and even more impressive was when the front man confessed his love for the Gas, plucked away on a six string and sung a short version of Irene Goodnight including Im a Rovers supporter faithful and true” - I thought he would get stoned, but got a total ovation - total respect. As a respectful nod and a wink and an acknowledgment that Noel loved them check out their debut single:

I saw them in Brighton few weeks ago - Brilliant band, he did the same thing, actually stood there and delivered those wonderful words “Rovers support” etc etc, the place loved them, fair due like you say - total respect, maybe he will become our Noel Gallagher 🤭

A shame that they have named themselves "The Town".. makes it virtually impossible to find them on Google etc  I'm guessing they took their name from the "Goodnight Irene" lyrics? If only they had chosen a more distinctive segment! |

@sleepy: I just text my partner and she said that the band are signed to Beating Art media and records, she will check with the Uni booking team, the fact Gallagher and Co are following them is very interesting. They are very good, original like nothing I’ve seen for a while, like I say, other than sweating like bar- steward at the gig I knew little about them, I did notice someone said they saw them in Brighton as well.

I Just read that the single will be released on Monday 10th this month Beating Art Records 👍, as someone else said, would love to see this lot at Glastonbury, they sound great. Thanks for posting!!

Where can I find any more of their stuff? That tune is the only one on Youtube, I don't think they're on Spotify and couldn't find anything about them online

That tune is the only one on Youtube, I don't think they're on Spotify and couldn't find anything about them online The piece I manage to find said Let Go is their debut single on the Beating Art label and will be released next Wednesday, it mentions that their is more to follow, other than that not much else. You get this sometimes they come from nowhere but filling venues and the next thing you know Boom!! Gas heads should get behind them, we might have our very own Mr Gallagher 🍻 |
