Interesting article on the BBC website with Plymouth about the chairman being fed up listening to "football people" telling him they know best and the clichéd "that's just the way football is".
Instead he decided to run Plymouth as a business and not just " gamble" money on signings.
With any new TV revenue, you can bet thatthe vast majority will be spent on more wages, signing on fees, relocation allowances and agents fees as we have already been told we have to spend to complete and that's just the way it is.

I've read keygas' piece very slowly several times and it says that ifollow will continue for "international audiences". Gulfofaden has explained vpn beautifully, and Express allows me to nip over to Frankfurt most Saturday afternoons, principally to check out sausage offers in the local supermarkets, but as a pleasant side benefit I can see Rovers games. So is this continuing regardless of Sky? What about the games Sky don't cover? Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere in the thread, but I don't think so.

... However I usually manage to get to about a dozen games per season home and away, travelling from Sussex, and this could end up getting messy

Sky will continue to be the biggest money makers in football. Not the clubs, players and fans that make it what it is. Big media continues its raping of the game all the while throwing us a few crumbs from their big meal table and expect us all to be so grateful. Patronising self serving merchants of greed. In my opinion. Sky shares are available: Comcast own sky sports. Share price $40.43. No barrier to the average person. It’s paying a dividend of about 2.8%. So you could earn about £1.12 in profits from being an owner of Sky. Not quite the huge profiteering you think it is! In return for this, you bear the risk of the shares declining or Sky going bust. If you bought in 2021 the price was $60 so Comcast stockholders have lost about 1/3 since then. Comcast donate a lot of money to the US Democratic Party and have given them over $2.7M since 2012. Get and buy some shares and you too can take part in the wonderful game of capitalism. You’ll be providing jobs as well.

Why should the championship clubs get the cream from this deal ? Surely this puts an ever bigger gulf between them & lgs 1 & 2.

Only one winner out of this and the biggest loser will be the supporters

I’m not sure this deal is good for the average fan or possibly even clubs like ours.
We get more TV revenue but the kick off times will be watered around with.
Yet we still can’t see matches at home or in pubs at 3pm for those games we can’t attend.
For me Id wager dropping the 3pm blackout and keeping 3pm kick offs would have made for a better result for turnout than what we have been given here.
On the plus side it warms us up for what will happen when Joey gets us into the prem 😉

That’s the spirit! (… whatever spirit it is that you’re drinking at this time of the morning).

Think of this, of the nearly £70 billion raised in advertising OUR GAME media companies make 80%! So they are the winners in the game, meanwhile the clubs and fans who ARE THE GAME make a pittance and have to dance to the big boys tune. Our clubs, and their supporters deserve better, we are the product and always will be , the pandemic proved this.

Hoe much do the league one clubs get from this deal ? 25% more than they get now, I think but not really sure, that we got £1m a season in L2 and TG suggested that we'd get £3m when we were promoted last summer. What's the betting the Championship get £10m or £20m+ and will get 50% more under this deal, the Championship is really becoming Premiership 2 by default. How can a club like Wycombe or Rovers cope with a wage budget doubling or trebling if they ever get promoted?

VPN ? Absolutely no idea how you do this but the clever kids know How ! 😂 Seriously? It’s easy. I have Nord VPN - probably not the best or cheapest. Go into the app, select the place in the world you want it to pretend you’re from , and switch it on. That’s it. Remember to switch it off otherwise all the ads and suggestions will be from that country. If you put Nigeria you’ll have Nigerian ads. Also if you’ve got it on, some of your accounts won’t work. Eg my betting accounts don’t work with a foreign VPN. So in Match, I have to switch off to bet on things This season my wife works Saturday and I have the brat so sadly for the first time in decades I’ve been more of an armchair fan, but it’s made me quite an expert on this matter. Naturally I would never illegally access the rovers match, but I research this while listening to it on the radio 🤣 Thanks , I definitely won’t give this a go next season 😃

Comcast are a massive company which Sky are just a small part, what where Sky UK profit's alone last year? I was looking at my own direct debits recently and I now pay over £70 a month/£840 a year to Sky and BT just so we can watch live football on the TV which is double my Rovers season ticket, and that's with decent discounts for Sky Sports and BT Sport. I assume Sky subscribers will be looking at another hefty increase to pay for the latest football contracts.

According to BBC Sport article on the deal: “What is included in the deal? There will be 10 live EFL fixtures shown every weekend, with five from the Championship and five from League One and League Two.” So essentially every game weekend, 5 Championship games will be shown live, 2/3 from L1 & 2/3 from L2? www.bbc.com/sport/football/65502322.ampI assume it'll be 4 or 5 from L1 and just 1 or 2 from L2, if so, then that's almost a 50% chance our games will be moved each Saturday, assuming it's split equally between our home and away games that could potentially be 1 in 4 home games moved? Apart from the inconvenience of an earlier kick up the atmosphere is usually cr@p as well.

That’s over 5 fixtures over 46 match days.

Great game and great atmosphere. If memory serves Rodman played against us (did he score?). Rovers 4 City 0 at Twerton wasnt bad either! All great goals but Channing's 35 yarder from the touchline was unbelievable.

If it is 5 from each league then who's going to watch all those L2 games, when most clubs struggle to get 5,000 attendances at present.

I don't think we have been live that many times, especially at the Mem. I would guess the broadcasters would choose a local-ish derby police or a game v the big boys (which could help on police costs?) rather than a token gesture cold November v Burton, or Shrewsbury. Imagine a neutral paying to watch Stevenage v Shrewsbury? I'll start the sweepstake - how many minutes of actual play will the ball be on the pitch 5 mins? And that is mostly free kicks.

I was really referring to non TV games, just seen more information on the EFL Q&A which suggests that they'll be 5 L1/L2 games shown each weekend and that the times these games are played is still to be confirmed, I assume it could be any time slot over the weekend.
Apparently 16 Rovers games should be boardcast each season.
It sounds like iFollow internationally may still be broadcast.
