JB genuinely believes we will challenge next season and announces to the cheers from the Thatchers End.
He believes we need twelve signings (I think there is not a chance he will sign 12 and we probably need more)
Contracts offered to Anderson and Ward are politely on the very low side … Grant Ward is keen to join.
Luke Thomas very keen to return next season
We have already started talking with Villa / Newcastle / Everton / Boro about signings … Newcastle is a wild card but interesting one.

Experience pace and width are the three things needed next season that we’ve been really lacking this season.
It’s easy to say we need x amount of players but I don’t think that justifies where we are what needs improving or shows the managers ability to see where the unbalance is within the squad we have.
If he’d said something along the lines of since the turn of the year we’ve lost coutts our captain Rossiter who plays in his role also and Anderson who’s one of few attacking wide players we have and that’s why we’ve been lacking leadership and playing predictable football all through the centre of the park and that will change next season because we’re going to bring in some leaders and some quick wide players so that we can mix it up and stop with this awful central football with no width no pace and kids in defence switching off all of the time then I’d be much more enthusiastic about next season.

I’m very much looking forward to the dinner and awards tomorrow night, I’m honoured to be there as a guest having never done anything like it previously (was never even a mascot as a kid, let alone been corporate on a match day) so a bit of a pleasure being around the players & staff of the football club away from regular business. On the Barton comments, delighted to hear Ward is keen to stick around especially. He is a quality player and a gem of a find from JB. Also like to think the talks involve taking Gibson on a permanent, that would be a very good start to the summer. |

It’s either bravado or undoubting self confidence on his part but he’s really setting himself up for a fall isn’t he ? No doubt the naysayers will be jumping up & down if we have a poor start or even a poor season but you’ve gotta admire his determination to succeed haven’t you ? He’s setting a high bar and for that I applaud him . Some might say naive or even stupid but I like the cut of his jib .

I remember Ollie on the pitch saying the same as j b we did give it a go the following season but ran out of pionts in the last ten games never even made the play offs that season and the following season we got relegated

I learnt that Joey is a very ambitious person, who , like in life, backs up what he says.
No doubt, the Exeter speech last season made for quite funny comments, from the sporting world.
But he done what he said we would do.
Kept quiet about targets for this season, but he has clearly spilled the beans on next seasons objective.
Think we’re be knocking on the door next season

There no such thing as a free lunch/dinner I learnt that some people have no idea how you would manage a team and think the best way to inspire and lead is to tell everybody they aren’t good enough despite the league table showing they are better than 25% of them and not far off 50% of the others. |

There no such thing as a free lunch/dinner The squad was good enough to stay in L1 which was the aim this season, it's not good enough to progress and I'd imagine the players who will be leaving realise that they didn't need JB to call them out yesterday. Although god knows why you are so gloomy about this season, it's not like we're Derby fans expecting at least a play off finish every season. |

Finals at Wembley & Cardiff Derby wins over BCFC etc but cannot write off the relegations and our exit from Football League, poor cup defeats to non league sides. You can learn a lot from history comparing eras are difficult of course. We had days with no subs now multi subs? the recruitment of local born talent as against foreign players and loan players. Now there are far better pitches etc. Football has certainly changed dramatically over the decades. Not all for the good But fans accepting mediocrity and believing the hype about "Jam tomorrow" does as I get older make me smile. It's good to constructively comment on current performances and stats do not lie. |

There no such thing as a free lunch/dinner I learnt that some people have no idea how you would manage a team and think the best way to inspire and lead is to tell everybody they aren’t good enough despite the league table showing they are better than 25% of them and not far off 50% of the others. It certainly did not stop Barton from throwing players under the bus before. It’s not like he has been consistent in talking the club and team up. Was only a few weeks ago he was having a pop at the pitch and saying he will have to consider what to do. |
