I learnt that Mrs Joey goes to the Ticket Office to collect her tickets, same as the rest of us. Although she was told that she didn't need tickets as she was "on the list". The young Bartons were very well behaved, reminded me of a mother duck with her ducklings obediently following.

JB genuinely believes we will challenge next season and announces to the cheers from the Thatchers End. He believes we need twelve signings (I think there is not a chance he will sign 12 and we probably need more) Contracts offered to Anderson and Ward are politely on the very low side … Grant Ward is keen to join. Luke Thomas very keen to return next season We have already started talking with Villa / Newcastle / Everton / Boro about signings … Newcastle is a wild card but interesting one. Dinner tomorrow night so a chance to Learn more and share if you want it. I’m very much looking forward to the dinner and awards tomorrow night, I’m honoured to be there as a guest having never done anything like it previously (was never even a mascot as a kid, let alone been corporate on a match day) so a bit of a pleasure being around the players & staff of the football club away from regular business. On the Barton comments, delighted to hear Ward is keen to stick around especially. He is a quality player and a gem of a find from JB. Also like to think the talks involve taking Gibson on a permanent, that would be a very good start to the summer. Dude any news rumours from your big night out?

I also learnt that it's a pain in the behind to reach the catering hut from the away end of the East Stand (to be accurate, it was my son who learnt this!). Sausage roll was rather well done too!

I learned that Ryan Loft was sat in the East Stand watching the Bolton match, and now having seen him close up understand the song: "if Lofty scores we're on the pitch..."

No rumours at all here, I’m not one to bother the players with any chat especially as most of the evening was at our tables enjoying the awards presented by the 20man. Though I did notice Balcombe/Flash Gordon were keen to get around the room chatting to plenty of folk, likely on the look out for the ladies! Most of the lads were on the beers but Lofty opted for a couple of coffees, sensible lad! Though I can 100% confirm the chicken main & sticky toffee pudding were unreal, I was fully up for seconds & thirds but it wasn’t to be😄 Decent night all round.

Sticky toffee pudding - you're talking my language! Was good to see that Charlotte Churchill got the Supporter of the Year award, a lady who puts a lot of hard work in to help disadvantaged families.

She’s an amazing individual & the award was fully deserved. As was the community champion award for Nik Weeks. Some very special people attached to our beloved Gas.

[br stop looking in the past and one day you may enjoy the present and what the future could bring After over five decades supporting the club I have enjoyed many highlights promotions play off Finals. Finals at Wembley & Cardiff Derby wins over BCFC etc but cannot write off the relegations and our exit from Football League, poor cup defeats to non league sides. You can learn a lot from history comparing eras are difficult of course. We had days with no subs now multi subs? the recruitment of local born talent as against foreign players and loan players. Now there are far better pitches etc. Football has certainly changed dramatically over the decades. Not all for the good But fans accepting mediocrity and believing the hype about "Jam tomorrow" does as I get older make me smile. It's good to constructively comment on current performances and stats do not lie. The general experience of a football fan is “jam tomorrow” One club can win the league and 3 others promoted. Out of 24. Statistically most teams aren’t succesful in a given year and by random chance would get a promotion 17% of the time. One in six years, call it. We’ve had 3 in 12 so it’s not bad, and 1 in 3 under Joey. The other point is that fans attitudes have as much influence on the game as farting in the wind. If you could give me an example of a teams fans not accepting mediocrity winning them football matches and I’ll be willing to change my mind.

I can't see how that club's fans are the exception, a bit like us/ours when we were relegated out of the league they had zero control. Even Man U's fans couldn't force the Glazier's out and compared to Man City etc both on and off the pitch they've been in decline for years.
