I sincerely believe John Kayes should have won an award for his fund raising for Nick Anderton and other fantastic causes he goes well beyond being a gashead. And he’s been doing it day in, day out for as long as I can remember. To be fair John has won an/the award before. Not saying he can't be recognised again but there are many deserving people

I know people will want their mates to pick up the gongs (people who do some great things for others no question) but some of the stuff I’ve seen on other Rovers pages is as grim as it is disrespectful to the two winners. Just unnecessary bitching & sniping over who is supposedly ‘more deserving’. All the while unable to offer up any sincere congratulations to those who have been recognised by the club. In essence it’s doing nothing but demeaning the efforts of those they’re speaking up for and not making them look very good at all. Charity isn’t a competition and you’d hope the efforts put forth are for the right reasons, wanting to help people & make sure monies raised are utilised to the very maximum. Not just for props/kudos or ‘look at me’ BS.

It’s just a few people on a Facebook page, nothing major & Twitterland, unsurprisingly where most of the chops are being ran. Disappointing but always the same accounts so not too surprising either.

Disappointing but always the same accounts so not too surprising either. Not a user of Twitter so no clue about that. All I seen was a Facebook post where John Kayes and Ash Belsten were shouted as deserved winners, both of them commented congratulating Charlotte for her efforts and said she’s a deserved winner. If you think that demeans both of their efforts then that’s up to you but seems a little harsh.

Silliness really but we move. Onto another 12 months of fundraising awesomeness.

Why would someone “piping up” make you think that way? Just a bit strange for me, as you say though on to another year of “awesomeness”

Personally I’d be embarrassed & mortified. Nothing is belittled in my eyes as I appreciate anyone/everyone who undertake selfless acts on behalf of others. But can see how it might leave a bitter taste in the mouth of some.

Your words previously made it sound to me like you were angling some sort of blame at the person mentioned in the post, which is miles and miles off the mark Crossed wires perhaps my end, enjoy the rest of your day.

I saw the FB post earlier, and must say that I was rather shocked, and disappointed. Puts John K in a position which was not of his making, he said that he thinks people should only win it once, as there are so many people who do good things around the club - well said that man!

I’ve since seen Charlotte has had her hand forced to address what was posted. You can tell she was hurt by it, some real cretins in the fanbase as well as the amazing people we’ve come to hear about. Fair play to Mr Kayes for pushing back against it and reassuring her.

One bloke commented that he'd "never heard of her", well, that's because she doesn't make herself the centre of what she does, the focus is on what she needs from people in order to help these families. I'm bloody fuming!
