I went to Reading years ago and remember Billy Clark’s tackle - shocker. I note all the highlights are online and I’ve found a couple of the worst Rovers tackles of all time.
Exhibit 1: Aforementioned Billy Clark assault
. 0.24 minutes with a satisfying slow mo after.
Exhibit 2: Jocky. City. Need i say more. 0.10 and 0.43. Both reds.

You wouldn’t want Jock marking you, the Norman Hunter of Rovers 😂. Imagine those tackles but now, he’d be banned

I think it’s terrible typecasting and stereotyping to assume Jock was a violent player just because he’s a moustached Glaswegian.
Jock absolutely did not fit that mould. He was a classy and cultured player who thrived on sportsmanship and fair play.

Ask most Gashead and they will remember him for being a very tough player, that is all.

That post was merely dripping in sarcasm, that is all.

He never touched Dave Smith, Smith play acted. 😉 That’s contrary to the Screen Soccer video that included guest hosts Boris and Judge and a wee clip of Jocky saying he loved the derbies because he got to kick Dave Smith off the park! The Glaswegian accent was so thick that it prompted the Screen Soccer lads to add the caption “Translation available upon request “

I loved Jock. Didn’t see much wrong with the tackle at 0:43 mind…. That’s the perfect execution of a tackle, he won the ball in my eyes.

I was at the Reading Game all those years ago. Looked a nasty tackle at the time and even worse now.
Worst one I have seen in recent years was Tom Parkes tackle on a Wimbledon player, an evening game at their old ground. Awful.
Jock was a good footballer, could play a bit as well as put himself about when needed.

Jock was a good footballer, could play a bit as well as put himself about when needed. He was, moved to midfield on occasions too. Didn't he keep Steve McMannaman quiet in the Liverpool replay, forcing a switch of wings in the second half?

I’ve just found the match report of the Wimbledon game. Tom P was sent off for two yellows rather than a straight red for the foul. Memory does play tricks, though it was in 2012.

Would not mind seeing a video of the Alex Munro tackle on Chris Crowe in a match at Trashton where he ended up breaking his own leg! Alex Munro (RIP) was the God of dirty tackles

Alex Munro (RIP) was the God of dirty tackles Wasn't there one where he just walked off without waiting to be sent off? I also recall one by Tony Pulis on one Teddy Maybank of Fulham. Mayank was a great prospect at the time. Didn't hear much of him afterwards. It couldn't have been dirty though - as Tony remarked "it was right in front of the referee, and he saw nothing wrong with it."

I wish I'd seen this clip before Thursday. Billy was in my golf team at the BRFPA golf day. You couldn't wish to meet a nicer bloke....even if he is a bit of golf bandit!!
