Quote from Exeter Manager “It was a difficult decision as he came here to show how good a goalie he was and he has had a good season,” Caldwell said of the decision to let him go. “But financially we decided we had to go in a different direction and also felt I wanted a different personality in goal from next year.”

According to Cheltenham's forum...
"Can see absolutely no reason why he would be interested in them. Unless of course all the previous beliefs on why he wants to move are total BS"
"This is madness, selling one of your best players to a direct rival (who finished below us last term and I would hope so again next) for a discount price. For the numbers being talked about I'd rather we keep him here and let him fire us to a mid-table finish which would be worth far more with the new TV money coming."
They did finish ONE whole point above us last season, but I think next season will be a lot different, I don't believe they'll finish above us

Apart from Ripley I think quite average signings. Connor Grant is good when fit, but he hardly ever remains fit. I find it strange that they decided to get rid of DC, appoint his assistant as boss who’d been part of all that had gone on and have brought in lots of new players for this season with a rookie manager. Perhaps they thought that DC had been too loyal to past players who got him promotion though usually the contract situation determines much of your squad. Perhaps DC was beginning to be a bit bolshy (as we know he can be!) or something else. I don’t suppose they’ve splashed the cash given that most have been end of contract signings but it seems they’ve been signing a lot. I may be reading too much into it but it looks like they’ve given trust to the new guy but not DC. I may be wrong! 🤔 UTG!

But without him, whoever he goes to, Cheltenham will struggle. Exeter have lost a lot of decent players, their academy may have some ready replacements who may be good but inexperienced so I think Exeter will struggle but with their trust model they probably see things different to us. Their owners want a steadily improving, sustainable model of a football club whereas I think Wael and JB really want the Championship. (Not sure Caldwell will see it the same way his owners do if they start to struggle.) Haven't looked at their forum recently but if we had lost as many players as they’ve done since May this place would be seething. They may have many players ready to sign but I suspect not. UTG!

Port Vale captain Tom Conlon (central midfielder) seemingly on the move to big spending Notts County. If he was available at a decent price, I wouldn’t have minded him here. Top player.

I've only just noticed Lawrence Vigouroux has gone to Burnley! Never mind, wasn't going to win that one 😂

Alfie May to Charlton set to be completed very soon according to Football League World, £300,000. I’d rather stick with Big John Marquis for that price.

It was Josh Kay who’s the legend! Josh Key is just another Exeter player who’s left. 👍 UTG!

See Middlesbrough are splashing the cash, lots of forwards coming in. Coburn on loan again could be an option?

Wouldnt be unhappy with him on the bench tho, with Marquis or May scoring 30+ I actually fully agree. May isn’t coming here, he’s off to Charlton but I actually back Marquis to get 20+ goals next season, he’s a top player and pro. Knows the club and the team very well after last season & think he will shine.
