Other than Alfie May last week, it seems to have gone a bit quiet on any rumours about who we might be interested in or sign next? Would be nice to get 1 or 2 more in this week before they head off to Portgual. Not what I heard but would not surprise me if were to be interested in Taylor Moore who has been released by the other lot. Like I said, nothing I have heard but just a hunch.

Wouldn't mind Taylor Moore would he be a good upgrade to Connelly and partner for Wilson?

Nick Powell is a good signing for Stockport. According to Wikipedia he is only 29. He seems to have been around a long time.

My observations were from seeing his performances week-in, week-out, home and away in the flesh as opposed to statistics, so perhaps I was missing something. Is he someone that had caught your eye before our loan? What are the stats without him, in a team that was already pushing for promotion from day 1 with a competitive budget? I think it’s hard to compare Gas results before and after considering Rossiter (and Coutts actually) being out and our form declining noticeably without his presence.

P46, Scored 80, Conceded 47, so no real change from before to after he joined at all with 21 goals conceded in the 21 games he wasn’t involved in, pretty much like-for-like if not slightly better without him, right?

Thomas was still playing after Rossiter's injury it was when he departed the wheels well and truly fell off the wagon, I guess not helped by JB deciding Belshaw was the culprit for the decline in form. Andersen was the pick of Barnsley central defenders and he's just signed for Luton, so Barnsley will have some rebuilding to do.

As noted in my second post, Barnsley were actually ever so slightly worse with him in the team than out, so he didn’t strengthen Barnsley at all based on statistics.

Bobby Thomas rumoured to be moving north of the border to Rangers! Good defender. Thomas was poor for us. Would switch off and terrible on long diagonal balls played over the top of him. He would defend fairly well for most of the game but would make at least one dreadful error a game as his concentration was shocking.

The advantage of a disciplined team is that they can rely on their team mates to do what is expected of them and so are not indecisive or caught in 2 minds - which happened to so many of our defenders last season . Strangely before the season started i read a Burnley review that said he had a fantastic long throw. He used it at Barnsley but we very rarely if ever utilised it. not sure why

In the few games (I admit!) I saw him Thomas looked good and was a threat in the opposing box. And whatever the statistics our defence looked poorer with him not being there after January. Helped take Barnsley to the play offs instead of us. But because JB fell out with him I think we were meant to as well! 😉
UTG!

No idea who he replaced but given Barnsley got within one game of promotion he clearly had a decent second half of the season, even if the stats were slightly worse.

Worth remembering that until December we had Rossiter, and then he was injured and our form declined considerably. Thomas was no rock at the back and did not strengthen Barnsley in any major way
