I understand the desire to want to know what happened. I don't get the desire by some to need to pin this on one person. Just doesn't happen in employment. There's a lot that delayed this transfer. We need to learn lessons. I've noted this error, it'd in the memory bank but I've moved on. Actually, over the past couple of years it seems to have been happening in employment at Bristol Rovers. The thing that is annoying me is that all those sackings in the past that have been blamed on incompetence has been done by the person that in this incident (and the South stand) is looking incompetent. If you live by the sword, you must die by the sword.

If you’re looking for someone to blame how about the bloke who couldn’t fix the Thatchers clock. The Forum Vultures need another carcass to feast on. How about the CEO that oversaw the Thatchers clock restoration project and employed someone who couldn't fix the clock?

He let it go to the wire as he got what he wanted as Wael caved in and just accepted his valuation?Even on the deadline we were still only offering £500K(?) at one point. Clearly he didn't appreciate that we could mess up simply completing the registration forms. He got nothing Topper . Spot on Yatton. The old adage something is only worth what someone will pay. Just a thought, perhaps there was a "dawn of realisation" that no one else was interested at 800k so we dragged our heels ? Personally I think 500k is closer to a realistic valuation of a player 29 years of age, further, if no one is interested at 800k its unlikely anyone will be in January when he is 6 months older. There were three parties involved in this, Peterborough, Player/Agent and Gas , i would suggest any blame lies somewhere in the middle of all three .

This thread reminds me of having a row with my wife. No matter how much you try and move on they just want to keep bringing it up. JCH isn't our player. Let's focus on the rest of the team and go with what we got, which in my opinion is the strongest squad since the Holloway era.

Well said, the JCH ship has sailed, we can do well without him just get behind JB and the lads👍

Well said, the JCH ship has sailed, we can do well without him just get behind JB and the lads👍 So - are you saying we haven’t signed JCH? I didn’t realise that. Blimey. Anyone know what went wrong? Think we need to discuss this matter in more detail.

The non signing of JCH and focus on the rest of the team are mutually exclusive. We can focus on the team and the months ahead without the 'spearhead' that JB mentioned. AND at the same time, we can question the running of the club and the CEO with respect to missing a tranfer day deadline.

So we literally did the opposite of what you suggest we did.

Bristol Rovers. We were given permission to speak to the player by Peterborough at 5:30pm and then agreed a deal around 9pm. TWO HOURS to complete the deal. Despite the Peterborough United Head of Football Operations Liz Elsom helpfully doing some of the paperwork at their end to speed things up and reminding us to request the 15 minute deadline extension, we somehow inexplicably missed the deadline by "seconds". This failure is totally on Bristol Rovers. If we didn't get cold feet about paying the fee and it did transpire how has now been reported, then that is one serious fu£k up.

Pretty much my point, when it came to the eleventh hour were we interested at 800k ? Also my understanding(and i stand to be corrected) clubs are unable to request a 15min extension . They do however get a 15 minute warning at 10;45 with the option to submit paperwork not yet complete which allows them 15 mins to complete ? Its the only explanation I can think of why we would of missed a deadline by seconds unless we got cold feet.

IMO if we don't sign a Free Agent CF by mid October, we will end up agreeing JCH return in December effective from 1st Jan.

I don't see the point in going over and over it, what is it going to change? I'm happy a new stand is going up and that we have seen such a big investment in the team. It's an optimistic time to be a Gashead.

Its the only explanation I can think of why we would of missed a deadline by seconds unless we got cold feet. I think it is very possible that the money men got cold feet at the last minute, but officially our club statement tells us "late changes to the deal prevented it being completed" and that "everything possible was done to finalise the agreement and register the required documents with the EFL ahead of the deadline." We now know that those "late changes" resulted in an agreement reached between club and player at around 9pm, leaving a further 2 hours to complete the paperwork and get the deal over the line. All necessary paperwork from Peterborough's end was received from them and ready to go just after 9. Liz Elsom spoke on the podcast confirming that Rovers' request for a 15-minute extension was lodged at 11:01 and the transfer itself at 11:17, meaning that the club missed out. Despite that ample amount of time of 2 hours and help with the paperwork from Elsom, reminders at around 10.30 that the 'quick application'/15 minute extension was possible, we still failed to get the deal done. I can see no reason why the paperwork wouldn't be completed in time. Getting "cold feet" seems to make more sense than simply and 'unfortunately' missing the deadline by "seconds".

So we literally did the opposite of what you suggest we did. I think you have misinterpreted me. The person to blame for the south stand and this incident is the same person (the CEO). David Bright seems to have been sacked for a completely different incompetence. That is my point. If the CEO is sacking other people for their incompetence, then surely the incompetence shown with the south stand and JCH is at a massive level and he should be sacked.
