He needs taking out the side, 3/3 poor performances this season and add that to probably 10/10 of the last 10 games of last season. Talk of championship? He’s not good enough to start in our team, he needs a massive reality check.
Side note. Luke Thomas and Anthony Evans outstanding today

Just because a player has a couple of off games doesn’t make them poor players. Form is temporary and class is permanent. He was voted player of the league and after just 2 league games you want to drop him ? 🙄

Inclined to agree. He has been crap this season and as the OP suggests the latter part of last season too.
His failure to pass to Thomas deserves a dressing down. That probably cost us the win. Far too greedy.

Far too greedy. He may be following instructions to be more greedy and take chances. A lot of the players very rusty give it time it's only 3 games into the season

I’d only drop him as a last resort. He definitely needs to be taken aside after the game or at training and told that he needs to up his game and be more of a team player.
His involvement in the goal showed why he’s so important to us though. Beating players, taking the ball forward and being very direct.
I think Pompey, Ipswich and Barnsley had shrewd defenders who were aware of the danger he poses, once we face the teams in the bottom half of League One, fully expecting him to be a menace.

We're entitled to our opinion.
Was Collins involved with the lead up to the equaliser?
Personally I think he does better spearheading the attack than out on the left

Personally I think he does better spearheading the attack than out on the left Sometimes it suits him to start wide as he can find a bit of space but other times you’d like to see him down the middle stretching the defence a bit. Today always looked like being one of those days where it wasn’t working out wide and I’d have switched him into the middle earlier in the second half. He’s clearly not in top form but he’s one of the best players in the division and we’ll only get the best out of him by keeping him on the pitch as much as possible. Plus his energy levels are superb and his pace doesn’t drop even in the 90th minute.

He was poor today and wasn’t brilliant towards the end of last season either.
Having said that, let’s not jump on him just yet after two games. Thomas has been our best summer signing, Sinclair was brilliant when he came on and Brown might be back next week so Collins will know there is competition for places. I also still believe he is better when playing through the middle rather than out wide.

In 2022 he was outstanding and deserved all the plaudits.
In 2023 he has been shocking by his previous outstanding standards.
I am sure it is a mental/confidence/believing the hype issue rather than talent.

I’m not writing him off as a player, but dropping him next game may give him the kick up the ass he needs. Look how well Luke Thomas has come back fighting from being dropped/criticism in the past

Collins will produce goals very soon, all the talk about transfer and what he is worth maybe got to head. Settle down and realise he is just a standard league one player and watch the difference in him.

Collins isn’t a winger and yet we are using him as one.
He’s better off a big striker or as a number 10 behind the front 2 in a ACM role.
The game confirmed for me today that Finley isn’t good enough if we want to be top 6, Az needs to be a striker and therefore we need another winger and that we need an out and out 20 goal season striker.

Spot on, I am sure if Rossiter was fit he would be playing there
