Finley slows it down too much, can t seem to beat teams with low block, never enjoyed that at all might miss Wyscum and Shrewsbury matches in the future as they are both anti football.
Ref was dire, clear foul before their second.
Joe, you have the players, no mates decisions pick the best team.

Hunt and Friend looked like they will be great additions with a bit of extra time and fitness.
Crama, another solid outing for him and bar a fantastic block would have equalised at the end.
Thomas looked lively again as did Brown.
Shot ourselves in the foot by conceding so early with their first venture forwards. Can't afford to do that against teams like Wycombe. Completely killed the momentum from what was quite a decent start.
Slightly worrying how long it took us to get a shot on target. Don't mind the wing backs/wingers swinging crosses in, but, imo the accuracy of most crosses was so poor as was the desire to try win them or challenge. High crosses cleared by unchallenged defenders, low crosses with nobody gambling or making a run across a defender, or just crossing it straight to the gk.
Overall disappointing result, but not sure its a million miles away from clicking. Hopefully it all sharpens up sooner rather than later. UTG!

That was painfully frustrating again today. I'm not sure why we have changed 3 of our four defenders who have gelled and been solid whilst learning to play together. Cannot keep changing the side with so many different players and expect positive results. Thomas and Brown looked good. Collins Finlay looked awful. No target man up front . Ref was the worst I've seen at The mem since Shrewsbury game. The defence was poor v Cambridge, at least we had none of the silly just passing along the back line today and attacking wise Hunt looks a massive improvement on Hoole. |

Hugely frustrating
Lots to be positive about but for all our possession and decent approach play we seemed to run out of ideas in the final 3rd. We paid a big price for giving away a soft goal from a set piece we really didn't need to concede in the first place. I'd like to see the 2nd goal again but from the Thatchers end both Hunt & Bogarde looked like they were fouled in the build up.
We definitely need a number 9 to play off of, we have lots of options as a 2nd striker / no10 or wide but bar Marquis we don't have that focal point.
Very impressed with Hunt, Friend I think will be another good addition once he gets up to match fitness.
Interesting end to the window coming up, imo one decent acquisition could turn this side into a team capable of challenging.

Surprisingly Finley today was fine . Previously he has made errors leading to shots or goals to the opposition.
At risk at repeating myself...we need to keep clean sheets.
Wycombe were dogshit but were effective when it counted.
Rovers over play thing's.
Take the least amount of passes necessary to take a shot on goal....its worked for a hundred years.
9 shots on goal = 3 on target = 1 goal
Its that Dam simple.
Crack on Joe ,you have good enough players from now on its on your shoulders.

I thought he was excellent and was growing into the game getting forward before JBs loyalty sub for grant. Hunt showed why he was promoted out of this league with SW. some excellent combination play with LT which is only going to get better. I understand why Wilson was preferred today, CT had a bit of a stinker last week and he’s still bedding in although I’d like to see Taylor and Wilson together too. |

Travelled down from Sussex today, and staying in marriot hotel, waste of money and time. Barton has to change his tactics or we will finish bottom half again.
One shot all match, at home, is not good enough. He needs to think again about how we play. Give him until Christmas and if no better by then he has to go.

I didn’t think much of Friend either. Too slow from the start and got slower. Was Ward covering for him when he gave away the free kick leading to the first goal?
Wilson had a steady game but I would have expected Connor Taylor to clear their free kick if playing - he’s so dominant in the air.
Hunt was good going forward and one of the few to show ambition but was he any better than Hoole in defence?
Crama had another decent game but the back line didn’t gel and had very little in the way of outlets. Finley and Ward didn’t seem to be looking for the ball a lot of the time! Hunt and Sinclair at least were looking.
As many have said we need to think again and come up with another strategy to attack these teams. On the rare occasions Thomas, Sinclair and Hunt ran at them first half they looked worried. Brown, Evans, Hunt and Vale towards the end but poor old Collins didn’t get much help or much ball and wasn’t going for the ‘maybes’ he chased early last season - no confidence showing currently, still looks a very good player to me though.

This one I really just don't get.
If you're going to play 4-4-2, why have the wide mids on their unnatural side? Put the right footer on the right and the left on the left.
How many times in the first half did Thomas get to the bye line, not put the ball in with his right and cut back on his left? All that work to get into a dangerous situation for the opposition back line and we squander it.
Anyone who has every played in defence at any level knows full well that crosses pulled back from the bye line and into the box are a nightmare to defend.

Collins has had stinkers in virtually every match but is still selected? I can't honestly see what Wilson gives us that Taylor doesn't and you can guarantee only one will get better the more L1 games he plays.
