Think Cheltenham only had 17 players available in the whole squad. Regarding our next game, Shrewsbury. The FGR keeper apparently had a blinder and FGR took their chances last night. Don't think we should read too much into either game.

Concerning that even against a side as poor as Cheltenham, I turned off last night unmoved on my first pick CB’s in Wilson & Cramerrrrrr. Taylor still has plenty of rust to get rid of. Taylor slows the game down by dwindling on the ball. The whole playing at a higher tempo starts from the defenders moving the ball quickly right from the start. We didn't move the ball quickly enough from defence on Saturday as well. What was different last night was both Evans and Bogarde came deep to collect the ball before moving at pace. Ward and Finley want too much time on the ball and are too slow and pedestrian to play together. Mccormick Bogarde and Evans were a breath of fresh air last night. Rarely do i disagree with someone as much i do this. I came away reflecting on how Taylor is unlucky to have Wilson keeping him out of the team. Last night he was solid , authoritive and he spent much of the game communicating with everyone to try and keep order in defence. I do accept that he was static at one point but that was because no-one was offering themselves and at the time we were 3 goals ahead. It wasnt as if we were chasing the game . Do people expect our last line of defence to charge ahead cavalier style and run the risk of losing possession - surely we had enough of that last season and should have learned our lesson?

I like Taylor and agree with you think he's unlucky to not be starting league games, he is strong and everything you say. But he was the same at Cambridge, the defenders to a certain extent dictate the speed of the game, and we were too slow! Maybe he was slow moving the ball last night because we were winning? But I think he hasn't quite grasped what JB wants him to do yet? He didn't move the ball quickly enough and gave the ball straight to cheltenham which they missed an open goal from in the first half. Doesn't mean to say he won't mind. For what it's worth, I think all of our defenders have been guilty of it so far, so he's not the only one.

“What did you think of the game?
We actually started the game okay. They scored with their first shot and we looked a team really low on confidence after the goal. Second half, we played with a lot more spunk”
Sorry, what?

Yep Taylor very solid defensively but definitely not a ball player , takes too long on the ball and doesn’t have enough vision to be a defender playing the way we play unfortunately. It’s a shame because defensively he’s quality and I’d rather we didn’t dick about with it so much in our own half also.

Good run out against weak opposition. Shame not keeping a clean sheet. You got excited at 3-0? Eh?

Well yeah he is. Don’t see him as a ball playing centre half is what I’m saying. Although he young and can obviously get better at that.

CT gave the ball away and it should have really been 1-1, I think even Loft would have taken that chance.

He’s like a better Alfie Kilgour. Was outstanding for the second half of our promotion season but we got the ball forward quickly then we didn’t play like we do now. If Barton doesn’t get us playing quicker and more direct over the course of the season then I think he might fall by the wayside like beefy has.
