lose to West Ham u21s in the last 10 mins and its a meltdown, smashed Cheltenham in the same competition a fortnight ago and its dismissed as nothing. Perspective maybe read the content of the posts. Dont care about the result much, not even that bothered if it wasnt the greatest performance. The worries are 1) we dont have good cover in centre back or up front, really highlighted last night 2) joey continues to play players out of position in some weird hope thet last 8 times they played there they showed they couldnt do a job. Hope we have Wilson and Taylor at the back and JM up front on Saturday. If he goes with Hoole again expect a heavy loss and people on here calling for him to be shipped out this in a nutshell is the issue, trying to boil down every issue into one nothing performance

Treat these games as a run out and nothing else.should forfeit the last game and take the fine.

When are people going to get in in their heads that our young players are not good enough to play in even a Mickey Mouse cup match. We could easily have been out of sight last night by half time and should have been. West Ham only scored due to individual mistakes. Whenever Gordan plays we end up with his winger running clean through at least once. Hoole our most successful young player is disaster after disaster when he plays and Belshaw just proved last night why he is not first choice and Cox is. I have no worries that this team will become a team we will be proud of and the Manager also. Any young player that is any good will end up at City-fact. Loans and free transfers and some old experienced heads is the way forward. It is an interesting point, but how do you know they are not good enough? Three of our recent crop have all been scouted and impressed bigger Clubs, I heard from a great source ( a scout at Prem Club) that as a Club we dismiss any approaches from other clubs as there is nobody at the Club that is appointed to deal with it. The only case where we have managed to move a player on was because a previous employee made it happen as he went to the Club that bought him. As players and a team we used to Beat City on a regular basis and some that are either out on loan or coming through City Ranks were not all that either until given an opportunity in a proper game. Also sources at City and Rovers have agreed not to do business due to the whole Matty Taylor debacle and how he was treated. Time will tell but i am hoping most of our current youngsters do leave because as a club we have no interest in developing them which is a real shame and as much as I hate to say it the other lot over the bridge have got it right! Its all panic at the moment with no real plan and a squad of over 27 players and getting higher proves that! And old heads are great but they have to work hard and be able to run as well! West Ham proved young heads and eagerness with ability to force mistakes out trumps an ageing team.

Perspective Win or lose in this competition (😔) does not really matter. It's about momentum, about formation and tactics maturing to give fans some confidence for the season. So far, and we are nearing the end of first ten game spell and it's a bit all over the place on those metrics. Win Saturday against Wigan and perhaps we can look forward to the next 10 game block with a bit more confidence. What matters is we had similar failings last night as in our last home game. Lots of procession but no end product, especially first half. Is that really down to Hoole, Gordon and Gibbons?

How many of our youngsters (who get released between ages 16 to 21) have gone on to play professional football at the same level or better and therefore proved the club wrong?

Ones we released apart from George Friend (although released before scolarship) Aaron Collins and Ryan Broom. Not a lot else I can think of although there were a couple of lads from the academy that have gone and playing at Bristol City and Luton Town, and maybe a couple of others and i will watch Keiran Phillips to see how far he goes as he works his way up through the leagues from being released. The question is, is that because of the Players potential or our ability to develop them and bring them through. But i think it is about the current lads we are trying to bring through who need help to come through and be developed. You have Ryan Jones, Harvey Greenslade, Jerry Lawrence and now Kofi who all have the ability and can hold there own in training but why as a club don't we try and maximise this potential if not for us but to sell on and get a small fee for.

We seem to introduce them to 1st team football either too late or not long enough. If we had Jude Bellingham in our youth team he'd be currently playing for Hitchin or the like. I like Ryan Jones as a player, and he had a great pre season as well. definitely deserves more than he gets at Rovers. Exeter have a good academy but also have limited transfer funds so are more inclined to put them into the first XI, and they reap the rewards with big transfer fees and sell ons

I have often wondered why it is that when we are told we have some promising youngsters coming through they seem to fall away at the crucial step. It can't all be mindset of the players, there must be something not quite right in the set up. I would have thought at our level we should be able to get the odd 18 or 19 year old coming through to join the squad each season.

Man United playing 2 games tonight in the trophy and the cup. The tournament is brilliant for prem teams with squads of 60+ Good result for the u21s! Yeah, a hiding, but they aren't interested in results. After the game, Binnion explained: “Competitions like this are the best learning experiences for our players. “The lads have got to look at themselves and think, ‘Where can I do better? Could I get into their team? What would I need to do to get into their team?’ “I always think that’s a good start - looking at themselves and making sure that they improve so that if we played Bolton again, we would fare a lot better and our players would be much further on in their journeys.”
