TBF it is a dump and a building site. Got character though hasn’t it. Wigan are sh**e , their fans are sh**e and their stadium has no character and the atmosphere is sh**e. Their old ground was better - away fans could wear slip ons and slide down the grass/mud terrace. (I’m sure someone will be able to upload footage of that)

That's the best gas performance since the Scunthorpe massacre that. Considering the makeshift backline we had absolutely magnificent every single one of them. Hard to single anyone out but Jack hunt. What a signing he is. A massive threat everytime he goes forward and so so solid at the back. And without JCH.

Edit. Also a worry seeing Evans in an ice pack at the end as he was absolutely brilliant today as well. Hope it's just a knock. Yeah the further forward he plays the better he plays, at times today he swapped with Thomas and was playing right side of attack and Thomas right centre midfield , the Wigan players didn’t know who to pick up and we caused them all kinds of problems. Ran them ragged at times.

Their “bang average” comments are merely them trying to ascribe their loss to their own lack of application rather than our superior skill and tactics.
It’s like when someone gets dumped by someone and they’re really cut up about it, and they say “well, I didn’t really like them anyway”
We were absolutely brilliant and they’ll go quite a while before they play a team who can pass the ball like that.
Here’s a quote from half time:
“That Marquis is a donkey but now I’ve said that I bet he scores”
Good job, Mystic Meg

Latics fans on there forum in meltdown, apparently we are a bang average team and they today' played in such a way that we looked like Brazil. I sense true sour grapes' no praise or respect whatsoever! Saw one in the Club Shop. His young kid was being a bit fractious and he was ranting and raving at the kid loudly. Not nice people. Having been unfortunate enough to visit Wigan, this comes as little surprise. Mutants.

A shout out to Grant and Vale for doing great jobs for the team in positions they probably didn't expect to be in.

Grants going to have to cover for 4-6 weeks now lets hope he can stay fit but he made an excellent fist of covering today. Some stern tests coming up in the next 2 games will really test him.

I think our keeper should do better with their goal, has to be stronger imo. Luke Thomas was outstanding today, his dummy and finish was quality and also the ball in for the second goal. Need to rattle up a few more wins Utg To be fair to Cox he is in the air arms up trying to catch the ball when Wyke hits him, I'm not sure what more he can do. Although a more experienced keeper would probably have gone down holding his face to get a free kick.

Have been slightly critical of CT since he came back, but his last two league games he has been exceptional.
I said pre match in such a make shift back line he’ll have to step up and put in a commanding mature performance, leading the back line and he did exactly that. Pocketed Wyke most of the afternoon and didn’t lose a single physical battle against the lump,
Hopefully that’s him for the season now and these levels are maintained going forward. Top lad.

It shows how versatile Grant is and why JB was so keen to get him fit and stayed loyal to him when many others wanted to get rid. I thought he was superb today and is getting better every game and hopefully his injury problems are behind him and the more he plays the more his body will strengthen as he picked up a few niggles after his operation.

I’d also value JB’s judgement versus the few on here that slagged off Evans continuously, wanting him shipped out and those that claimed Thomas wasn’t much good so we shouldn’t have re-signed him. Probably our two best performers so far this season.

Alot of that I think was down to being played out of position and was short of confidence. He has certainly turned it around this season and that's possibly due to being played more centrally and more forward. I have always valued JBs judgement he knows so much more than some of the experts on here and I can't remember anyone he has let go that you look back and say that was a mistake.

Anyway , always liked him but he’s so much more effective if playing a bit further up like today.

Home early after negotiating the car park better for once .... What a cracking game ... Must admit I totally got that wrong at 2pm when i saw the team... Anyway here are our marks ... Cox - 7 ... Pretty faultless - good punching under pressure from the gorilla Wyke, distribution a different class from the midweek keeper. Vale - 7 Very good full debut and put in an excellent shift at LB Taylor - 7 Won most things in the air and scrapped hard - distribution getting better Grant - 8 Excellent at CB - Distribution brilliant and fought really well in the air - Would cement him in there now. Hunt - 9 - Love this guy!! Quality throughout and a goal + an assist to Big John. Finley - 8.5 I have been his biggest critic but today he was outstanding - led by example - terrific in the tackle and had a few shots at goal as well. Evans - 7 - Got kicked throughout but another really good hardworking display and drove us forward Bogarde - 7 Seems to take some time to settle into games but some nice touches and worked hard Thomas - 8 Excellent performance capped with a nice goal Collins - 7 Worked hard - created chances and got a deserved goal Big John - 7 Worked hard - got pushed and shoved and a cracking header for his goal Subs - Collective 6 - No one really stood out but did enough to see out the game Joe Barton - 7 Well I thought he had got the selection wrong but what do i know ? Josh Grant at CB and Harvey Vale at LB was inspired - Clearly told the boys to shoot more this week and it paid off. Referee Team - 5 - Very poor at times and some of his decision making will have made the assessor weep!! Fans- Strong 7 - Noisey at times and supported well - Loyalty rewarded today Wigan - 5 - Looked really good in the warm up - really good. I thought we would struggle against Wyke + Aasgaard but wasn't he case. So a thoroughly enjoyable game - is this the sign of things to come - we shall see Certainly taught me that we have more strength in depth than I thought Have a great weekend everyone. I thought Aasgaard was Marvelous

Another post praising Grant. I have stood by him on here and was pleased he was given another chance. I will admit I didn’t think he’d be as good as a CB as he was today. Hope he keeps that up as that really gets us out of a hole. (Just home 6 hours to do 100 miles thanks to a 4 hour stop on the M4)
