I wouldn’t let it bother you. You’re right , I mean DC turned our club around and won back to back promotions and there were a few that still didn’t like him. Coughlan took us to our highest league position in about 20 odd years and half of our fan base seemed to hate him, then he walked out and it was mostly the ones that didn’t like him that were seething that he’d left. That’s people for you. Didn't find supporting BG easy, but even after his break for family reasons we backed him on his return .Weird appointment and in one post match interview he went a bit strange saying,'And what referees need to know about Bristol Rovers is......'. Coughlan was good but his sudden departure after a rare win away at Ipswich was bewildering.

Who leaves a club in play-off contention in L1 for a team in L2? I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. Something personal must have kicked off and that was his only way out. As for BG, It was obvious from the start he wasn't up to it. The man wasn't a leader. I can't quite believe we persisted with him for so long. DC is a legend and always will be. Love the guy.

To be fair he said at the time that he needed to be closer to home for personnel reasons and I took his word for it , I know many didn’t and still don’t now but he seemed like a straight up bloke so no reason to question it I think. Thing is he’s got a wife and three young kids and if his wife says she needs him closer then he’s got two choices , stay at Rovers and become a single bloke possibly divorced or do the same thing as you’re doing now but with a different company closer to home. I never really understood the hatred from our fan base around that time and it really made my feel different about our supporters. Anyway he’s gone now and hopefully JB can get us to the heights he did but playing nicer football. Saturday was a great performance. UTG

Its his decision. I thought he was a great manager for rovers, all be it for a short time. I just don't buy you make that sort of decision half way through a season when you are doing so well. You make that sort of decision at the end of a season. To me there must have been more to it.

UTG I keep hearing this but would 5/6 more months really made much difference, especially as his stock as a manager was rising and he had already spent 10 years down south at various clubs as player and coach.

Bullshite reason to be closer to home as his next move was Newport (after Mansfield gig).

MarioB, Oldie, KP and Meldrew all seem to have disappeared since the victory? I've commented on one match thread this season you weirdo. Likewise, hardly ever posted on match day

Bullshite reason to be closer to home as his next move was Newport (after Mansfield gig). Pretty certain he said in his post match interview he was concerned about the lack of support from the owner, then changed his story after he quit. Apart from his brief spell at Mansfield DC seems to have spent most of his coaching/managerial career living miles away from home. The fact he's struggled as a manager since he departed suggests he was no great loss anyway and he just got lucky with JCH.

Who knows ? Every relationship is different , perhaps his wife gave him an ultimatum, perhaps one of his kids was ill or going through a hard time who knows. All I know is that my family is more important to me than anything else including my job. Everyone’s got their own story.

If that was the situation then I'm pretty certain rovers would have been more than accommodating with his needs and worked something so he didn't have to leave. As with Garner.
