He was interviewed by a journalist and answered a few questions. There is nowhere in that article that shows he made a song and dance about it. I’m sure for anyone who’s starting position is “I hate JB and nothing he does will change that” will have heard him making a song and dance about it !! Yes. You are probably right. To me, going on about your Marathon run to the press and how you are supporting NA is making a song and dance about it. To you, that's just everyday behaviour.

To be honest, I thought that was a fair observation of your posts on this topic. If anybody's making a song and dance about it. it's you. By the way, Banks don't give out giant sized publicity cheques as freely as they used to, as it eats into their profits!

They are, I'm not trying to hide that. My personal thoughts on JB have been shared, not a fan of the bully. However, the comment was aimed at me as a person. In fact, I have had to point that out a couple of times on this thread. I know its an emotional topic and I know some have been impacted with cancer more than others. However, there is no excuse for any poster going after the person rather than the post. It seems like being disrespectful to fellow forum members has become a habit for some people lately. Ironically, I have a hunch that those who are fed up with 'cancel culture' are trying to shut people down by making it personal.

Examples of attacking the poster, not the post. Trying to shut them down: gaschat.co.uk/post/948725gaschat.co.uk/post/948726gaschat.co.uk/post/948772gaschat.co.uk/post/949006gaschat.co.uk/post/949202gaschat.co.uk/post/949429gaschat.co.uk/post/949536These examples are just on this thread only. Its got a bit school playground. We used to have Mods, they don't seem to be doing as much crowd control as they did previously. The whole forum has got quite school ground of late.

I dislike Barton more than most on here but I'd personally be disappointed if he didn't make a song and dance about raising money for a good cause. He has the highest profile of probably any manager we have ever had. Would be silly not to take advantage of that to raise money for an (ex) colleague would it not?

On this matter I think JB is guilty of not making a “song and dance” about it when perhaps he should. If he’d really gone to town on it and used his high social media and public profile he could have earned loads when he did the marathon !!

He has the highest profile of probably any manager we have ever had. Would be silly not to take advantage of that to raise money for an (ex) colleague would it not? I actually agree with you. The point has been completely lost in the thread. The point that I was making back somewhere around page 2 was that JB liked to make a song and dance about everything, which is why not announcing the gift to NA on twitter/X paywall (seems a very long time ago that was mentioned) is very weird and possibly is a last minute thought. Otherwise, right back at the beginning he would have said "I am going to put my comments behind a paywall and donate a vast amount of it to NA". I would imagine, he would have had a lot more signups if he had said that. There were plenty of people annoyed with him announcing club news behind that paywall, if it had been transparent from day one I expect some of those people annoyed about the paywall would have probably signed up for it. The the point made from Tilly was that maybe he didn't want to make a song and dance about it, then the article saying how much he had donated disproved that theory. Then it became, he ran the Manchester Marathon for NA. Again, he made a song and dance about it/gave an interview with the press - However you want to interpret it, he made his actions and motivations well known. However, with the Twitter/X thing, he didn't make it well know from the beginning and then a long time after starting it he mentions NA (my view is that was an after thought by JB) and now he has stopped. My take on it is that he thought he would make a few quid for himself (and give some to charity), however the number of subscribers didn't meet his hopes and he has stopped as he doesn't want his followers to drop off.

I'm still at a loss to see how our manager has done anything wrong by answering questions posed to him by a "journalist", about running a marathon.
Oh yeah...in financial support for a poor soul who has a career ending, life threatening illness. You know...same poor soul who had one child, now has two and is under 30 years old?
Shame on you Joey. No sack that. Shame on you gasify for trying to criticise the manager for this one.

UTFG 🏴☠️💙 Because for all the reasons gasify has given it comes across as an afterthought from JB rather than the main reason. The team shaving their heads was specifically for NA and received loads of good publicity. This is the first I've heard about the Manchester marathon. The same applies to the X paywall.

Me too, which kind of confirms that he's not making a "song and dance" about it. I've only become aware from here and a journalist asking him questions.

We're here and we read most/all posts. Tbh, I really don't see much of an issue with many of those. Confrontational? Perhaps but attacking the person, debatable. Generally the less modding the better tbh, but we delete a lot of posts. Many of which you won't notice because.. well, they were deleted. However, you suggesting stockholm syndrome or suggesting another poster is being "fuckwittery" - you can't have it both ways in attacking and claiming victim. As Hugo said though, if you feel unhappy with a post then please do report it - we discuss all reports. We all have different opinions over what is the limit

Mine is completely justified. It was also a backhanded compliment but the description stands. The forum has been school playground for years anyway. That's what happens when people are turbo reactionary and don't reflect on their remarks.

Sorry if I’ve missed it but I assume it’s been mentioned that he tweeted he couldn’t be arsed to set up a bank account which means in essence, he couldn’t be bothered to do it for Nick Anderton which he said it was for.
I mean if 10 people had signed up, that would have been £100 a month for Nick, it all adds up?
One other thing that came to mind Saturday, he mentioned he’d speak to the CEO if he could fine Thomas to reimburse the away fans. He’s often said and tweeted he’s very wealthy, I was thinking, 500 fans, £20 average a head, based on OAP’s and kids, £10,000, why doesn’t he refund us?
Biggest Banned word manager we’ve ever had.
