Of course they are looking for customers that operate a business. That is literally their business.

50 subs members, £500, ok take away fees, this is all year round, £5000 a year to Nick and his family or a charity. I never started banging the drum on this, it was Barton, he uses the word which I repeat again “bothered”. No pal, this forum is for debating, you don’t need to be an LTD to get a Stripe account, any of us could have one in 5 minutes.

My point was Barton said he couldn’t be bothered to set up an account to help Nick Anderton or any charity out, I never said I was doing it for charity. Also in life, before I make big bold statements, I get my facts right and do my research, nothing to do with an obsession, just pulling up a bloke who continually makes outrageous statements.

Probably ignored his table at some Rovers do, so he's missing out on being able to post "when JB came over to table....."   

This time tomorrow night will be interesting, will all the JB haters have disappeared again or will they still be here? 

We were and we still are. Let's reflect on a few posts:

bidefordgas responds with you have to set up a Ltd company.

bidefordgas then says "Looking into it a bit deeper sounds a bloody nightmare to do it!"

@topper gas says "Agreed, I assume it was just like setting up a PayPal account."

I then pop up and say "I think you were right with right with your first thoughts"

Meaning it is actually as easy to set up as a PalPal account.

I then provide two links. One says that you don't need to be a Ltd company. The 2nd showing the UK agreement that clearly states you don't need to be a limited company.


@topper gas then send a screenshot and makes the comment that you need to be VAT registered to use Stripe.

I then point out that you don't need to be VAT registered and that the screenshot provided by @topper gas actually shows you don't need to be VAT registered.

@topper gas then says:

I then point out that Stripe is literally a payment processor for businesses.

Ironically, it was @topper gas that raised customer types. So @topper gas opened up that part of the thread that he wanted to shut down.

So, in my mind we were discussing how easy or difficult it was to set up a Stripe account. All you need is proof of ID and proof of address, sign the agreement and give them a bank account to settle funds into. Its very easy, I have done it many times.

I personally believe (and I would being a Barton Hater - I'll get that in myself before some lazy poster uses that to dismiss my viewpoint) that this behaviour fits the narrative that giving the money raised from this venture to Nick Anderton is a complete after thought. Otherwise, he would have said that right at the beginning and more people would have been on board with the situation.

Posters were complaining that he was giving company secrets to subscribers that should have been announced by the club through official channels (it was about signings). If it had been made clear at the beginning that NA was going to benefit from the funds raised then alot of those people complaining would actually have subscribed.

I think the reason that JB has stopped is more to do with the lack of subscribers than the excuse of Stripe setup.

JB if you are reading this, I'll happily set you up with Stripe account if the money is going to NA. Just reach out via DM. I will need three things:

Proof of ID (Passport/Driving license)
Proof of Address (Electric bill that shows MPAN number)
Your UTR - We both know you already have one.
