Port vale bossed the first 10-15 mins or so and that was that. And even bringing all those subs at half time never changed nothing. Best thing port vale had to offer was their away kit. Thought Martin played well he was giving there number 6 a lot of stick and him jumping up and running off after getting booted was one of the highlights of the night. On to Saturday at Oxford , would be happy with a point but a win is not out of our grasp either UTG

win at Oxford and automatics should be a target. Not many teams will have spending power in January or the strength of a back up 11 waiting in the wings once the injuries clear up.Not sure there will be such a time, Rossiter and Crama out long term and a constant flow from the rest A conveyor belt of sick notes, is the next phase at the quarters a new hospital wing?

They played without a striker, the chap who started up front has 4 goals in 160 games. They haven't won a tuesday night league match for 18 months and have lost every game this season to teams starting with 'B'. I'm grateful we didn't end their run.š

Port Vale manager telling his keeper to go down injured so he could give them revised instructions 4th official and assistant should be spotting that.

Port Vale manager telling his keeper to go down injured so he could give them revised instructions 4th official and assistant should be spotting that. Itās happening in virtually every game in all divisions. Perhaps when a physio comes on players should be barred from moving to the touchline and stand in the centre circle. The officials these days donāt seem to have any understanding that the paying public are there to be entertained and should not have to put up with these dark arts and gamesmanship

Marquis broke his hand apparently Hope weāve got enough to have a full bench of subs v Oxford. I really didnāt want the Exeter game being called off but with the way the injuries are stacking up perhaps it will work in our favour. Luckily the players who are likely to be called up for international duty are not amongst the injured!

And of course itās why refereeing has become so difficult for officials. Players act up, pretend to be injured when theyāre not really and generally try to buy anything to get a small advantage. And when we get a decision against us we will read about the officials being useless. Is it any wonder? Trying to pick out the genuine fouls from the play acting must be really difficult if youāre not standing next to the incident. You just canāt rely on reactions nowadays. Iām as bad as any and hate being in League 2 because the officials there are poor. But I have sympathy for the officials when the players, the media, everyone just calls them rubbish. Great win though.ššš UTG! We are in league 2? Gulp! When did that happen? Youāve not being watching us much at home in 2023 then? ā¹ļøā¹ļøā¹ļø And what I should have added when you get teams and players time wasting from minute 1 and continually low level fouling but enough to get away without a yellow or red card it then I do feel sympathy for refs even more. (Shrewsbury last season, Wycombe come to mind) Sorry Marshy I should have said whenever we get relegated I always have the same thought, ā b***** it weāve got those League 2 refs againā. They can be awful. š UTG!

Port Vale manager telling his keeper to go down injured so he could give them revised instructions 4th official and assistant should be spotting that. Spot on, of course someone should notice that and bring it to refs attention. Unfortunately itās all part of the gamesmanship that all clubs employ today. I donāt believe weād be any different if the circumstances dictated it btw. But listening to the PV manager speaking afterwards showed the slightly delusional nature of football managers. Apart from the 15 minutes at the start, PV were completely outplayed by us. So when he said they dominated the first half he really meant the first 15 minutes. When Crosby said he was āproudā of his players I took it that it was code for āIām bl**** relieved we didnāt get dicked 7-0 like we did at Barnsley opening game of the season.ā A manager who knows his attack isnāt good enough and despite a few good games is likely heading for a difficult winter. But in the end who cares, we got 3 points in the first match of a month when we could and should pick up a fair few points. And they thought this guy is better than DC!!! Blimey. UTG!

If he says yes then once the trainer has treated him the player has to leave the pitch for 5 minutes. Discuss please

Any reason we seem to have stopped tweeting out goals vids? Dont even think the youtube highlights have been shared?
Love the at close quarters films, but need the goal videos that then get shared by loads of football accounts etc.

He literally nudged the 4th official cupping his hands to tell his keeper to go down...
Officiating is so poor in the prem because its scandalous in the football league.
They throw money at tech but the need has always been more professional refs. The refs have my sympathy but the football authorities are a joke.

Other things... Great to see Chris Martin run down their defender to nick the ball off him for the first goal - he didn't know whether to head or knee the ball, our big man robs him, lays it off to JB, you can clearly see LM pointing to where he wants it - 1-0 and we're up and running.
The importance of scoring first is immeasurable.
Horrendous defending from them for the second - Hunt by name and nature just waltzes unchallenged into their box for Azza cross - if it were us, I'd be spitting.
Oh, and a bit of Gangsters at half time. T'was Special...

Donāt claim to know everything about football but the Port Vale manager claiming his side totally dominated the first half last night makes me think he must be insane.

I have watched the YouTube highlights, but they havent shared it on socials, and more to the point, seem to not just do the goal clips any more like everyone else. Ed Walker's feed from last night is a good example of all the best goals being shared around after the games (that Ipswich one btw!!!) twitter.com/edward_w97

Just watched 'pitchside' Vales version of our 'close quarters' Coverage of all our goals from the other end of the pitch. As for C Martin's power of recovery 3:30 in, wow. We'd be livid if the other way round. AB7 you tube coverage quite good as well. JBs goal really appreciated by the vale fans
