Aren't we still missing a few key players through injury? Maybe, but there's no evidence it would make the slightest bit of difference. Even with the players we do have available, Barton fails to get the best out of them - constantly plays players out of position - changes the side even when not forced in to it etc. |

All this but we had as good or better possession than, and more shots than Portsmouth, Oxford and Barnsley. Most of our work was in the second half too. I think its too easy to be critical when results don't go our way. Win 2-1 and these threads don't exist! Never mind every season its the same thread topics from the same contributors regardless the manager, division, squad or owner. And you are the same contributor as well, do you regularly go to games anymore and are you happy with 1.04 points a game in Div1? Do you think a win last night covers all this up? And instead of just knocking people for having an opinion, what is yours, have you enjoyed something like only 2/3 home wins in 2023, how do you find this acceptable? I rarely go. I watch most games. Not sure I've knocked anyone but I do know that half of the people chopsing off in the ground have never kicked a ball in their life! Also, fsr, our contributors only ever see us, with little regard for the opposition. I usually read the other sides forums and listen to the other team commentary of our games. Our fans are as fickle as the next and some only appear on here when the mood suits them.. That's pretty sad imo. |

If we were getting passed off the park and run around for 70 minutes, I'm pretty sure our fans would be complaining, loudly. How about if we had 50-50 possession and won games 4-1 ? Did you see the Wigan game ? I was at the game. It could have gone either way. |

With possession based football you have to keep the ball moving and move it early or you give the oppostion chance to reset their lines and not get drawn in to the tippy tappy sideways stuff. Many times we roll the ball out and spend 5 seconds holding it waiting for movement, before doing 5 0r 6 passes across the backline and then starting the move. Contrast that to Stevenage who play a very similar style but within 6 moves were in our half or down our flanks. The main difference with what we had and what they had was 2 very good forward men constantly moving between our centre backs which pulled Hoole or Grant in or forward creating the gaps in behind. On occasion it allowed them to split our centre backs through the middle (the sitter they fired over and the free header that hit the post, for example). Stevenage werent a low block team either like Burton or Cambridge were, they played some decent football and were one of the best teams I've seen this season. Yes, this is accurate although we were addressing the tippy tappy stuff a bit lately. |
