West Ham fans certainly were vocal and wanted there manager sacked saying his football was dire and form inconsistent. Good job for them that there board stood firm and gave him time as now look at what he has achieved. It's so easy to just say sack the manager I wish it was that simple that a new man will come in and change our fortunes. Let's be honest here who are we going to attract that could do that we are not an attractive proposition to many and unless you are prepared to spend stupid amounts to get someone here we will end up going backwards. I remember Mark Robins got loads of abuse from Coventry fans especially when they were in league 2 but they gave him time to build something and now look at them challening for the Premiership. Will JB be a success here who knows I haven't got a crystal ball but I'm willing to stay patient and see where this goes as stated before some of the football we play has been the best I have seen in the 30+ years I have enjoyed watching the Gas. Bridgey, but we are averaging 1.17 points a game or something in Div1 with Barton and until a couple of weeks ago, it was our first time we had won at home and won by more than two goal as since our 7-0, we went a whole season at home without winning by 2 clear goals………where is this myth coming from that that football is great to watch? Have people forgotten about Matty Taylor winning the golden boot, Bodin having people on toast?! And you mention 30 years support, Disley and Campbell pressed as good as this lot, Lambert link up play and goals incredible. And I’m sorry, this lot doesn’t come anywhere the Latvian, Walters, Curo, Roberts, Ellington, my memory doesn’t allow me to forget the 6-0 at the Madejski, or the 4-1 at the Britannia Stadium, both opened for first time those seasons. Barton had spun it so much that people are actually spouting it now, 17th last season, 18th currently, is there any other fan base in the country wax lyrical about the football they are watching in these league positions? I’m starting to think this forum getting like Trump supporters and MAGA, we are starting to believe this crap he keeps pumping out. “The club is in a better place today” how is it Joey, you go you take the DOF with you, we are losing £3.2 million a year for your sort out, worse injuries than Garner now, worst discipline for years, it’s Barton Trump! I don't believe everything JB says and I'm certainly not taken in on who or what he has done in the game. The club was in a complete mess when he came in and it needed a massive overhaul and that does take time,he can promise what he likes but I have seen it many times it takes 4/5 years to build a club up properly. There are a few that do it quicker but in general it's a long term project not an overnight fix. I remember the days you refer to I was at all the games and have fond memories of them but the quality of football wasn't the same the quality of striker is what won us games and I have stated in another thread I think that's all we are missing put a Lambert,Roberts,Cureton into this team and I think we wouldn't be far off Champions. Was JCH the answer I'm not sure but would loved to have seen him here but that's another debate. I love the way JB is implementing a style of play here and sticking with it as if it does click and we do get promoted in the next couple of seasons we will be ready to take on the next level. That's what I think we are trying to do so we don't do a Wycombe,Yeovil etc and just come straight back down. We all see football in different ways and some have more patience than others so for me I'm sticking with JB and fully behind him.

A fair reasoned reply Bridgey 👏🏻
I do admire you patience, I was like this with McGhee and rightly got hammered here on this forum!
We all have our opinions, the mind does erase things, that day at the Madejski it would have been 5-0 at half time and it was 0-0. I’ve never seen a Rogers winger play like that day in how McKeever did, we ran riot at the place and the football was incredible.
All the best mate, let’s hope we win tonight.

Well I will give it you Bridgey and take your word on it, they are idiots then for wanting a manager out who gave them an 8th place finish. We have fans saying it’s the best football they’ve seen in 30 years with us finishing 17th and 18th 😂🤷🏼♂️ You did say I need tablets, happy to go halves mate?! Most the abuse was in League 2 days they expected to be champions and they were not I the top 10 all season they started off being very inconsistent WLWLLD in there 1st 6 games and were very inconsistent all the way up to Christmas where they would win 3 on the bounce then draw or lose 3 on the bounce. He had a system of 4231 that he didn't budge from in the first half of the season but adopted a more direct 442 for the second part. They finished 6th and got up through the play offs only losing 3 of there last 14 games so having a much stronger 2nd half of the season. Sounds so familiar 🤔

McKeever was exceptional 2nd half whatever happened to him as he never really hit the heights after. I remember at half time I was saying we could sneek 1-0 here. Certainly wasn't expecting what happened 2nd half. If I remember correctly did he come to us on loan and only arrived and met the squad on the day of the game?

He came on loan and then Reading nicked him off us. His knee injury finished his career, he was never the same after but a hero in your county at WSM!

Both yourself and Bill have brought up some very good points . I do agree with BG when he states if we had a Lambert,Roberts or Cureton partnership at present we would be very near the top of the table. Especially with Roberts & Cureton. I'm more with BG when he says we should stick with JB. I also think we are playing good football at present and who else is there if we got rid ? You mention Taylor/Bodin. You've got to remember that was Non League or at best 4th division ie two divisions I would hope we would not need to compete in again. Bodin was good but Taylor was average and missed more than he got. As for managers who were successful at Rovers -- Well in my time I could only name Tann with maybe Megson/Francis ( 1st time ) coming anywhere close. Hopefully Joey turns it around and success this season for me would be a top 6 finish.

Albaron, I’ve had DM chat with Bill and he does make some good points re the strike force pairings, you could argue why hasn’t Barton assembled a pairing like this as he’s had 4 transfer windows?
You also make some fair points. There was a period last season when we came up, I even think Loft was starting games where our high press was the best I’ve ever seen from a Rovers side (the memory does forget for me as well!) and we started to believe before Christmas the play offs maybe on. I then went to Wycombe away on Boxing Day and said, our season was over on that front and I was proved right, we basically collapsed for the second half of the season.
I think Bill’s comments, yours, and me saying above re the best press ever, we’ve seen it at times but it’s the consistency of it all. Cambridge, Peterborough, and Burton away performances were up there with some of the worst I’ve seen as well, up there with the Salford, Oldham and Carlisle games on our promotion season.
I stand by what I say, 17th and 18th placings might see a purple patch of good football but in general whatever he’s doing isn’t working and isn’t it all about winning more often really?
