We redistributed and spent big money on Mickey Evans Scott Jones and Stephanie Leonni and many many more . The point I'm making is this budget is no bigger than the team 23 years ago . Some people are a bit inflammatory on the so called budget size making out we are spending massive sums. The entire team consisting of 4 years costs less than a million. We are not a top 8 team when it comes to budgets . Therefore Barton did a OK job . Nothing exceptional granted. The club made much, much more from the sale of Barry Hayles, Jason Roberts and Nathan Ellington though. Who in the current squad would generate a fee/profit? Even Collins and Taylor are underperforming this year That's because the club was regularly spending £250k on players which 23 years ago was a lot of money. It had one of the biggest budgets in league one and was able to outbid teams for players . Like I said if you are spending a million a season then you expect players to progress. My central point is the current budget is being topped up a bit . If we signed 13 players and 5 are loans 1 never played a game ( 2nd goalie) and 4 could retire next summer . That leaves 4 -5 players on long term contracts. It's a competitive budget I agree . It's not a top 8 budget . Therefore Barton did a o k job unremarkable but not a disaster. |

Yes thanks very much Joey, best football I've seen down there in a very long time, most of the Mem were behind you as you know, gl with whatever roll you do next, you will get to be a better manager for it I'm sure of it.

5 wins in the last 25 league games wasn't it?? All after being backed in the market. Not sure how we can do much worse. 7 points off the play offs with 33 matches left, with the best squad BRFC have had at the MEM, you win the league in April not October. O ye we did that when Joey got the club promoted back into Division 1. Right where do I start………… Best squad ever at the Mem? Holloway squad, that lost to Cobblers in the play offs, Hayles to name one in it and went on to play in the Premiership Holloway squad, with Roberts (Premiership) Ellington (Premiership) Zamora (Premiership), Latvian captain, just to name a few Trollope Squad, England goal scoring international in it DC squads, championship players in it, Premiership CB and Wales international Barton’s squad today, you said best Mem squad ever. Are you telling me have a current England international in this squad let alone a Welsh one (Collins got worse). And are you telling me we have several Premiership and Championship players in it, don’t dodge the questions, which players are these? 7 points of the plays offs, last season we ended up 24 points off them and this seasons form is worse than last seasons. Some of your statements are like me saying at 46 I look younger now then when I was 26! |

Lambert went onto to score and play for England
Lockyer went onto to play in the Premiership and played for Wales with us, I forgot this, back up my point even more!
Barton’s squads are the opposite, full of been there done it players collecting final pension pot salaries.
Holloway, Trolls, DC, all sold players for money, who in this best squad ever is going for money?
