haha got to laugh at them. He's had 10 or so good games for Poxford - his MK Dons side were the worst side we've played in a lot of years of following the Gas - the easiest away day victory. Pantsdown is the gift that keeps giving. Their fans are absolutely boiling. I've got to say the appointment of manning could go either way for me. It could be a very good appointment. His side's play very good football and I know his mk Dons side last season were terrible but the one the year before was absolutely superb. I know we're only 12 games or so into this season but you can't deny he's done a fantastic job at oxford turning them around completely from the shambles Robinson left them in last season. It's a huge gamble city are taking but if it pays off they really could fly under manning in my opinion.

For me, Manning being keen to leave Oxford raises doubts on him.
Garner should've stayed at Swindon. GC with us.
Managers leaving too early before they've got anything to note on their CV is really dumb. If you've got something good going on- you should resist the temptation of short term paycheque. Eventually, you slide out.
Otherwise I think it's a good appointment.

He’s being poached so will have a strong negotiating hand , 3 yr deal (?) at championship wages ……. Sorted. Agreed he should have at least seen through the season with Oxford.

League 1. Never managed in the championship. This is like Rovers plucking someone out of league 2.
Underwhelming really. Apparently he’s been at their “high performance centre” which is a bit of a joke given Lansdown’s plans for city involve survival in the Championship and milking out transfer fees to pay back the stupid money he’s invested which was wasted. Should be called the “waiting room prior to an offer over £25 coming in centre”

I suspect the set for life aspect is more true of players. If City goes wrong- 3 months of football at Oxford isn't going to land him many jobs.

Took Lommel SK from bottom to mid-table in 6 months. Worked wonders at MK Dons and unlucky not to get automatics to the champ on 89 points. The board then sold all his players out from underneath him and never replaced them. Turned Oxford on their heads in 4-5 months. It's a shame we can't go out and get in a similar forward thinking manager from a league lower like City can, someone like Dave Challinor, for example.

I’d say 3 yrs would set you up for life .

Can’t deny his Oxford side has had a good start to the season, but I thought they were nothing special when we played them & even their own fans said they were fortunate to win & we’re second best for the majority of the match..

City fans probably underwhelmed because they think they should have a 'big' name manager regardless of proven ability, Manning seems to have a proven track record as a coach/manager and could prove to be a very astute appointment.

Poaching from the division below?
If we play that game, its what they’d call “the cheap option”

Going back to Pearson, I saw a few comments on social media that he's been in hospital since the sacking. Does anyone know if that's true?

Poaching from the division below? If we play that game, its what they’d call “the cheap option” Oxford have been a feeder club for them over recent years so why not the manager as well. Hope he does as well as his last season for MK Dongs

All sounds well and good but isn't that what City do. Always sell their ebst players and never replace them for anywhere close. Will be interesting...

Probably a disappointment as, after sacking a manager due to poor health, the deluded 82ers thought they were getting Will Still or Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Sure he’ll enjoy having Tinnion telling him who to sign and who and how to play.
