Could be true. I suspect the set for life aspect is more true of players. If City goes wrong- 3 months of football at Oxford isn't going to land him many jobs. Quick google ….. the average championship manager salary is 878k a yr . Blimey ! I’d say 3 yrs would set you up for life . When you put it like that I suppose it’s a no-brainer. But, from a football pov, I’m surprised. I think Manning’s a top coach. Unlucky at MKD but supported by some decent recruitment in the Summer has done really well at Oxford….for 3 months at least. Not long enough to have achieved anything yet. I think he would have managed to get a promotion on his CV by the end of this season but now he will be under pressure from the start. And as most of their fans saw his team get beaten 1-5 by them in the first week of the season they will be somewhat bewildered. I can understand why Oxford must be absolutely furious at this, possibly upsetting their plans after only 3 months. Perhaps they have someone to take over and do what Plymouth did last season (lose Lowe but appoint Schumacker and go up). UTG!

Manning is a great young coach. Was very highly thought of at West Ham and developed their U23's. Took Lommel SK from bottom to mid-table in 6 months. Worked wonders at MK Dons and unlucky not to get automatics to the champ on 89 points. The board then sold all his players out from underneath him and never replaced them. Turned Oxford on their heads in 4-5 months. It's a shame we can't go out and get in a similar forward thinking manager from a league lower like City can, someone like Dave Challinor, for example. All sounds well and good but isn't that what City do. Always sell their ebst players and never replace them for anywhere close. Will be interesting... To a point. But they always will be able to spend between £500-£2m on replacements as well as having fantastic academy products to bleed thoroughly into the first team.

Now we have an interesting situation , Oxford getting a potential candidate from us. Them being in second makes it that bit more attractive.
Btw Im all for keeping Mangan at the mo* , as it seems the owners are too , and the list is not that attractive , but suppose Pearson does throw his hat
in the ring with the two clubs , Oxford imo would get him.
* now convinced we need someone else in! Post Gas v Reading

Is take Pearson if he was fully healthy in body and mind!
Ted's made a mistake sacking him to be honest.
