Sorry - I get your joke now.
I guess I'm saying it is nothing new. The individual involved at Reading will no doubt face police action and a banning order as a result of CCTV and Social media footage. None of that was around in the 1970s and plenty of irresponsible acts went unpunished.
No worries...it wasn't a very good joke anyway. Good point though.

They probably also went mostly unnoticed before the advent of mobile phones filming everything!

It's kinda worse. A criminal, imprisonment offence. They only chucked the balls on when we were attacking!

Clearly not, why anybody would racially abuse a football player is beyond me, but it's still a criminal offence to throw anything on to the playing area.

So much to digest. Morons throwing fireworks, pi**ed up morons turning up late/ruining the matchday experience etc. Frankly there's nothing worse than some idiots turning up 1 minute to kick off and being next to you. Not sure there is any answer to this. Can't really compare lower league football to the theatre/planes. When there is a big turn out I usually turn up early and try to sit next to "normal" people. The only thing to remember is usually the pi**ed up morons are in their own bubble and mean no harm to a fellow Rovers supporter/they are usually young and naturally ignorant/stupid. I remember bangers being let off in the Tote End and also remember myself knocking on doors and throwing bangers at the door in time for the householder to open it. Something I look back on as being stupid and moronic. On a brighter note I fondly remember daps. Everyone at infants school had a dap bag (usually made by the mother) to keep them in.

We know what he means don’t we? No one else in my family would have done but I still use it. Makes the grandkids laugh. Does anyone else use it, apart from Bristolians? UTG! My 25 year old son (a born and bred Bristolian) hasn't a clue what daps are, despite my tuition in that glorious word and others. He does say that snow "pitches" however, so he's not been banished to some northern outpost like Filton and is still allowed to visit our house. 🏴☠️👟

Morally no, legally yes, under Section 2 of the Football Offences Act 1991.

What I find incredible is that these protesters are able to get something bulky like tennis balls into the ground. Fireworks I guess can be flatter but tennis balls? Do they frisk fans going into grounds in the lower league. I haven’t been frisked in League 1 this season but at AFCB I’m searched completely before being allowed in. And it’s not just a cursory search it’s very thorough!
Seeing as it’s a regular occurrence at Reading I’d have thought the club would put controls in. When we had the pitch invasions at the Mem didn’t we have to produce a plan or something to ensure it didn’t happen again? Surprised the EFL haven't done something similar considering the regularity with which it happens. (Sorry, that reads stupidly, after all it’s the EFL who couldn’t organise a p*** up in a brewery.) 😉
UTG!

People could have taken anything in...and they did.
