This is what happens when you control a club from top to bottom, you can do and sign what you want. Rossiter would at best been a 12 month deal for me, he is a Jamie Shore all over again but even back then he only got a 1 year deal. Now coaching for us, typical Scouse lot again, all best mates, as thick as thieves. Like this bloke, again signed off the Scouse estate in his wheelchair, if Rossiter and Hughes were from Kent and Coventry, we’d never have signed them. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Hughes_(footballer,_born_1986 Jennings Wasserman Specials What part of Liverpool are Friend, Leon Clarke and Pitman from?

Wish him all the best but another Jennings Wasserman special. I swear we asked the physios and doctors to have days off when certain players came in for medicals?!………Rossiter, Pitman, Mark Hughes, Trev Clarke, Wilson, Friend, Harry Anderson, Leon Clarke. Incredible amount of injured players we have signed. Think you're being harsh on Anderson there. Played pretty much every minute of the promotion season and looked one of the fittest players at the club. Rossiter and Trev Clarke were probably calculated gambles in that if they were fit they would've been too good for us. Rossiter was talked about as the next Stevie G at one point, Trev Clarke had played regularly for a Rotherham team at the top end of League One. We've been doing this for as long as I've supported Rovers; see also Jamie Shore, Rammell (second season), Virgo, Kenneth, Clarkson, Gill etc etc . A calculated risk is a free transfer on an okay wage. Not a six figure fee for a bloke who was averaging 15 games a season across his whole career.

We’ve gambled quite a few times over the yrs on players that are decent and could probably play at a higher level but they’ve suffered various injuries, we sign them hoping they’re through the worst of it and we’ll bag ourselves a bargain . It rarely if ever worked in our favour.

Liverpool quota was done, Friend, Clarke and Pitman all unemployed without clubs, once the Scouse market has been saturated, we go into this market. Junior Brown and Chris Martin the same market, Jennings uses this a lot and when desperate. Owen pal, we’ve never got a resale fee off the Scouse market either FYI

Not really the best examples you’ve picked there mate tbh. Friend was playing in the Marcus Stewart charity match and Jennings spotted him there, location worked for everyone with that one. Leon Clarke was a panic buy after the deadline who in fairness scored some important goals but his legs were absolutely finished. Pitman was a poor signing for the way that JB tried to get him to play, look where he ended up afterwards to see the state he was in!

It rarely if ever worked in our favour. Bodin is a good example of how to do it imo. Had one really bad injury but not several. Rossiter was always going to end up like this.

People often use their own contacts as they are known to them, nothing unusual there.

Yatton, we have two Mercedes Vito’s going back and fourth every week, someone has a bias towards employing Liverpudlians?!
Barton Mangs Jennings Chris Spendlove Danny Ventre Analysts x 2 Club Secretary we sacked That’s 8 scousers, I don’t know where the rest are from
Rossiter Finely Mark Hughes Anthony Evans James Connolly
Loan signings last season from Everton and Liverpool.
13 scousers there, most all played together as well at Rovers.
Can you name another manager who has brought in 13 people all from his City, I mean did Holloway take 13 Bristolians to any of his clubs?!
Liverpool population is 100k more then Newcastle and Nottingham, 200k bigger than Sheffield, I’ve never known of an invasion into a football club from so many from the same city?!
👍

Football is like this all over the country, managers sign players they know and trust , invariably from places they know/live/lived. Wasn’t it the Coventry massive a few yrs ago ?

The Coventry massive helped us stay up, ride as high as 4th in Div1 in December at Portman Road and let’s not forget the big carrot, £1.2 million for JCH.
We have employed 13 which I can only think of Liverpudlian’s since Barton joined us. We had a serving company secretary of 20 years who got on with every other manager before but couldn’t get on with Barton and Jennings so we moved him on. He replaced him with a 21 year Scouser who I am told was caught offering rovers employees class A drugs, we sacked him. Now would the JCH deal have collapsed with the man who done so many transfers on past deadline days?!
You don’t care where people come from, I don’t particularly as long as background checks, references are taken and they interview well. It’s a problem though in any business when some is in a position of power with no accountability who can keep employing his mates time and time again.
Let’s be honest, 13 scousers employed, one recently sacked, one sacked for gross misconduct, no resale values on the Liverpudlian players, some might say we gave someone too much control.
And now Rossiter is a coach, again the boys in the hood looking after each other, Mangs comments and not mine “me and Jordan are close friends”

Majority of the Welsh players joined as youngsters from the nursery we had. Rovers being their first club so not a comparison to current situation. Plus we made money on some of those.

This thread seems to have gone off on a tangent.
Anyway it doesn't matter where anyone comes from surely it is about the ability to do the job.
Saying that I am not sure bringing in your mates is a good move. Ollie and Penny worked but look at Gorringe and Bright and some of the other mentioned already on here.
You see it quite often that a manager brings in an assistant and says they have the same footballing beliefs. Is that such a good thing?
Taylor and Clough were chalk and cheese, Ward and Booth worked well for the Gas, one a forward one a "get rid" hard man defender.
Trolls didn't know Lennie and in hindsight the fans who often moaned "what does Lawrence do apart from lean on the dug out and mumble a few words", might realize that while we pay 2-3 analysts to review matches now, Lennie might have provided a golden nugget of info in real time that helped score a crucial goal.
Hopefully we get the best person for the top job and even if they don't particularly get on with the rest of the coaching staff, they are mutually respected and get the job done.
Maybe the programmes and 50/50s can be given back to the SC, rather than employing mates to do it, as they care and would absolutely no doubt make them better products and easier to purchase and therefore more profitable.

Let’s get some clarity here guys!
Having an academy or scouting network in Wales or like Oxford have in Ireland is first class, let’s add Hoole and the 15 year old as well who made his debut in the FA cup last week. This isn’t bringing in your mates, it’s lookout for talent and brilliant because in the main we can’t afford to keep spending on transfer fees.
Gerry taking his best players from QPR again is sound football management and business.
Barton taking Finley, Connolly (Scouse connections), etc with him in Div2 and Coutts is no different to Gerry Francis. The issue is when you can’t let it go and insist on playing them in a higher level when not good enough, casing point Finley for last year.
But when you add in 14 or so Liverpudlians brought in and working for you, in some cases jobs for the boys and continual signings from this area with no resale value and injuries, you have a right to question this.
I mean, it has gone off on a tangent but it’s on Rossiter who is now coaching because he’s a Scouse mate. Why wasn’t Trev Clarke, Mark Hughes, Junior Brown, Leon Clarke, all invited to start doing some coaching, Mangs words “Rossiter is a personal friend of mine”
Barton gets the Bradford or Fylde or Vauxhall Motors job next, all his management team goes with him. My mate who sold them the Vito’s and services them will be gutted!

I can’t keep shooting down these replies and then unearthing more ammunition, here goes the next one, it’s pure GOLD this one 😂👍
Ansi was on the books but our Goalkeeping Coach Tony Warner, born in bred in Liverpool 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 decided to leave and take another job! Coles was brought back in to train up Ansi, even Barton and Jennings would struggle to bring in another Scouse GK?!
Donald Barton fan base again trying to stop the truth coming out, I will be accused of being obsessed again, told to let it go, all that crap. 14 scousers now brought in, it’s a bias, it’s a mafia!
Make Rovers Great Again
Tony Warner, thank you for letting me add to the list!

14 people brought to the club from one city, if the late Roy Castle God rest his soul was around still we’d have Record Breakers down at the Quarters 😂
