If you listen and watch the interview on the above link then it seems obvious what he means. A complete demolition and rebuild will cost £20m plus and also mean the whole east side is out of use for a couple of seasons, sticking a couple of semi permanent stands on the end a lot less and will also mean we can keep on using the east stand. Are you going to take Swiss up on his request to be a conduit? Wonder what he wants us to know? 🤔 Have done now although it's probably to stop being so positive about the club!

Not sure I'll know what to do with myself if I have a roof over my head watching Rovers. I know there's been more than one picture over the years in the paper where there's been my dad, myself and about seven other idiots still stood out in the rain when it's been torrential.
Will be interesting to see how they go about it without blocking off sight lines from the top of the existing structure

No disrespect to anyone, but I’ll scream if I hear the term “sight lines” one more time. Discuss till day light but we have to be patient and hope that they want the best looking ground that they can afford, and not just some carbuncle that will infuriate the fans. But keep a tight grip on your aspirations guys. UTG

I couldn't give a hoot what the stand looks like as long as it does it's job but any east terrace roof would have to be very high to not block the sight of people in the east stand.

I can't see the East Terrace will ever have a roof whilst the present East Stand remains, it just can't be done, the design was always totally ridiculous.

Surely it will be two high seated stands all in line with existing east stand and roof. Then either terrace or uncovered seats in the front.

The article says "Once the South Stand is finished, AlSaeed said the plan is to turn attentions to develop both sides of the East Stand, followed by the Thatchers Stand." But that's the journalist writing that and not a direct quote. It may well be that is what will happen, but it's not clear from the interview. Thinks it’s about time we had a Thatchers end thread isn’t it ? Can we do The Thatchers end last? I quite like standing.

Think I've said this on one of the other stadium threads. The thought of Carlisles stand had crossed my mind. Issue being the east stand only has 1000 seats. Adding on each end would be a lot of work for not many seats

And what? I hope it’s not like this stand Trev Oh right, will wait to see the plans,I think the challenge will be that it will be difficult to make it aesthetically pleasing as the East Stand is a bit of a monstrous carbuncle.

I fear it’s going to be a botch job, where is the long term plans. Great we make the championship in it but what are their long term plans because this stand isn’t long term? Beggars can’t be choosers come to mind, I think we’d all be a little more excited for the future if it was a main stand like something that Wycombe have

If the two new stands have the same height roof as the existing stand, their roofs if brought out to cover seating on the terrace, can be used to support a new roof section on the old east stand. Seats can then come down from the old stand to pitch side.

Plus would the present stand even take an extended roof? We could have a decent stand if we just knocked the present one down and started again. Even if it's another "semi permanent" one.

I’ve seen us win at Millmoor, the Withdean, lose to Cardiff the last game of the season at Ninnian, the list is endless, someone has to take this club on at some point. I am not knocking you personally Trevor, read my reply above, I’m the same saying beggars and choosers. But we don’t demand more, we let the UWE go without a whimper, we are now over the moon with a south stand that could blow over?!?! These owners are having a play at it with us, I can’t get excited about bodge job stands. It is what it is, let’s hope it can propel us into the championship and someone else fancies us as a project. I don’t want to hear about land prices in Bristol, Brentford, Luton, Oxford are alll pulling it off in just as expenditure places for land

I think someone has mentioned before - seats can’t come down to pitch side from the existing stand without moving the whole pitch westward and increasing the roof structure to cover it.
