I doubt you can suddenly just open up an exit without getting authority/permission of some kind? If we did it'll give the lady who moaned in The Sun report about the new stand something to really moan about! it's in the interests of local residents that as many people as possible can leave the area as quickly as possible after the match. It would make sense to have that exit in place (even if we dont use it for now unless an emergency) before asking for planning permission for a higher capacity. Exiting the ground after the Charlton match, someone who lives on that new street right next to the Mem was genuinely trying to re-enter said estate by car right on full time. Sat stationary as thousands filtered past and out onto Filton Ave. someone wished her luck & she said “I’m only trying to get home” (with a smirk) Can’t believe for a second those residents don’t know when we’re playing or have the brains to check the fixtures.

We need a new East Stand same as the one Rovers were in on Saturday but with blue seats. Single tier with exec boxes and function rooms at the top that would have great views over Bristol. This just popped up whilst browsing youtube Very nice it looks too but that's never going to happen. The owners are going to add bits to the sides of the existing stand, not demolish it and rebuild it. I just hope they don't employ Bodge and Co. Builders to knock up some dodgy wings with a bit of scaffolding and some blue painted plywood.

How true it is I can't be certain, although the person who told me is trustworthy, but my understanding is that they're planning to demolish the current East Stand and replace the whole thing with a wrap around into the South stand. Whether that will be another temporary effort or a 'proper' stand, I don't know. My concern with the former option would be around the hospitality facilities and the shop?
I've been told that the plan then is to build a two tier stand where the Thatchers is, with safe standing at the front and seats at the rear. That would then wrap into a new stand where the Cooling FX stand currently is....

The confusion (which is probably going to keep this forum busy whatever happens over the next 8 years) is that we started developing the Mem on the basis of temporary revenue ahead of new stadium and now we are further developing it on the basis of staying there permanently. So if we continue with cheaper semi permanent solutions arguments and uncertainty will arise about whether or not we still plan to move at some point or the board have settled on making do with a cow shed stadium with a higher capacity. Personally, after 33 years of it I'm done with speculation so if they're serious about staying they need to make it look serious.

How do you know the plan wasn't always to redevelop the Mem for the medium term, when it sounds like the FM was never really likely to happen?

Or go back to using a portakabin in the car park? Perhaps that's why the south stand is taking so long to complete, they are building a proper super store in the concourse (joke)!

This just popped up whilst browsing youtube A bit more meat on the bones here, the South Stand at Carrow Road cost £9m in 2003/04, it has a capacity of 8,434 with 24 boxes. I think Rovers really need to look at c6,000 redevelopment of the East Stand. That would be a similar size to the 2005 Mem Redevelopment plans. Mad to think that was 19 years ago. Urgh.

Stand and terrace gone and big stand with all the facilities we can all be proud of. I also think 2 tier north sounds good, considering how Deep the terrace is. The current roof is also quite low on skyline. More I think of it the club have a chance to build something quite special as the pitch is so far below the car park. Can't be many grounds that you enter well above pitch level. Premiership ambition.

Only problem is it will take years.
Whack a new superstore in it, changing rooms, hospitality and we’ll be well placed to replace the West Side at a later date. Move it slightly eastwards and we can do something decent over there.
I’m guessing they’ve been talking north and south phases to build some infrastructure in the mean time to tide us over whilst we demolish the middle bit.

If the club rebuilt east and north properly and then waited a few more years to work on the west I would be more than happy with that. What I fear is that the club do a minimalistic sort of job, it not particularly easy on the eye and our future is continue to be stuck in an eye sore of stadium...I've ruled out now us ever moving away.

I’m sure we all like the sound of that idea but I doubt the owners will be willing to spend the tens and tens of millions it will require. My money is on them extending the East on both sides (same roof line etc) and seats open to the elements on top of the current terracing

What they do with the East Side will tell us how far the owners think they can take the club more than any words.

In an interview I do believe the quote was East Side next and then North but I was told the other day it was going to be North next and then East with a full rebuild which would make sense as you wouldn't then have to lose hospitality revenue with bars etc under a new North Terrace.

Okay. But I am hoping they don't. All about £’s I’m afraid 🙁!! I am trusting they knew what they were getting into. As others said what they come up with will tell us how serious they are about being a success here.

Can we get it built in time for the 4th round replay ? It’s taken us 60 years to build the current new stand, so I doubt it! 😂
