I went to Fenway Park in April to watch the Boston Red Sox and it was a great experience, although the scoring system and frequent stoppages for no apparent reason had me baffled. TV ad breaks?
But one of the best bits was having hot dogs, fries, beer and more besides delivered to your seat by one of the dozens of guys carrying these vital supplies round on trays or on their heads. You just wave at them and they're over in a flash.
Why don't we do this here? It's great, if a bit pricey.

Mindset management seems pretty important to me. We came straight out with the plans for the South Stand and it left planners, certain politicians and most of all local residents with a foul taste in their mouth. They claimed they had not been consulted on the build. It was then difficult to row back from it and get people own side. If you approach the new build from the mindset of getting everyone on board before you put the application in you make it difficult for people to object. You remove the criticism that they haven't been adequately consulted on the matter. Releasing the plans publicly before all of this has been done runs the risk of watering people off and having to bend over backwards to placate them to get stuff done. Only difference last time is that we had Marvin and Kev on board when it came to the backlash. Now we’ve scrapped the mayor and the greens have a majority in the council, I really worry about the level of objections they will apply to anything new we propose. Might be wrong, but they were the loudest opponents to the south stand, and we can never forget their support for TRASH. All the more reason we have to be seen to be doing everything right

Believe there was a meeting last night with the Club, residents and councillors to discuss our plans, which will include a 6 storey student accommodation on the side of the stadium

Not overly keen on this but will wait to see the plans .

Very hard to tell but clearly nonsense either way.

If true would surely have to be a complete demo and full rebuild?

Very hard to tell but clearly nonsense either way. Just have to wait and see then won't you The only way there might be a grain of truth in it, not that we will ever in a million years build a six storey building on the site, is the old planning trick of going in with something outlandish, knowing it will be rejected, and then scaling back the application to show we've addressed the concerns of residents and going for a three storey building which is what we wanted in the first place.

It’s not an entirely outlandish idea. The permission we obtained for redevelopment financed by student accommodation, had sections of six storeys. Unfortunately when Nick Higgs became totally focused on the UWE scheme, the permission was allowed to lapse. I considered that a mistake then and I still do.

Going to look horrendous with student apartments, if that is true... Love to be convinced otherwise.

The whole draw of the Fruit Market was the potential for non match day revenue in the way of conferencing facilities, gigs, retail around the stadium, and potentially stuff like hotels fixed on too. The reality is, if we are staying put in Horfield, there's little to no potential for any of that.
What north Bristol does have is more students than it can house. This may be one of the few ways we can become more sustainable. How it looks, I really don't care, so long as it still creates an atmosphere, pushes us forward and gives us a platform to kick on.

Student accommodation is one of the last things I’d like to see at the Mem but if is the only way to make it feasible then we’ll have to take it. Ideally we’d own it rather than handing it off to a third party else we’ll have our hands tied for future changes.
