Sammy P sounds like a right NIMBY. Yes, I had great fun trolling him as you could probably see. Â Bloke was a bit of a numbhead. Great idea. well done

Will be interesting to see what comes out of this evenings meeting then. I would hope we retain the student accommodation and use the income to support the club. Clearly that would be done by offering the lot out on a long term lease. But a steady income non the less.

Christ are we building a stadium or a university campus Perhaps a stadium funded by a university campus?

Hope whatever is planned looks good. Really don't want it to feel like approaching a block of flats instead of a football stadium.

This may have been posted already.
Plans that were discussed recently
Next plans include...
• Creating 350 purpose-built student flats.
• Upgrading the East and North stands, taking capacity from 12,534 to around 17,000.
• Opening up the access road to the stadium via Ellicott Road
Maybe this will be discussed further tonight.

I'm all for it. All comes down to aesthetics for me, hopefully it could be done to look nice. The 17K is the number that surprises. As that is reached without touching the West stand.

I think that makes sense as sure they said wanted c16,500 capacity? If the West side is rebuilt the capacity will drop, assuming would be all seats. The footprint is limited on that side due to the housing behind and small walkway, so if it was rebuilt (even slightly bigger) then the area taken up by terracing on west enclosure plus what was the family terrace in corner would not be able to house as many seats

Would expect a new stand with a couple tiers to be much bigger than what is currently there, which doesn't make very good use of the space.

View AttachmentAren't posters getting ahead of themselves talking about redeveloping the West Stand, when the owners clearly stated they had no intention of redeveloping that particularly stand?

We were only going to be extending the East stand not long as well, but rumour is we are now having to move out. So perhaps the owners have realised that if they going to develop the ground, they might as well do it to the maximum now. We are NEVER moving from the site, so why not.

If there ever was an entrance on Endicott Rd it looks like it's long gone, I can't see the club ever getting permission to reopen it. Alton Rd seems a lot more plausible as an entrance/exit?

Always possibility but zero suggestions so far that the West Stand is part of the plans and the club have only just spent money getting pp for the TV screen.

Some interesting info from Samuel P, assuming he's got his facts right, as he suggests that they'll be 350 flats built in total and they will cover ⅔'s of the present car park. No idea how many flats you can fit on one floor but if the maximum height is 6 story's and there's 10 single occupancy flats on each floor then that's 5 blocks of flats needed to be constructed. Bristol Uni charges anything from £10K p.a. for student accommodation, so that's potentially £3.5m+ income p.a. for whoever owns the flats. I think the 2008 plans had 100 apartments but would accommodate 300 students, possibly something lost in translation? All the more reason to get the plans out as soon after the consultation as possible. There was a hotel in the old design as well I think.

I assume 350 students means at least 350 bedrooms, as I can't imagine many first year students would be happy to share a bedroom. I doubt whatever was planned for the west/north corner won't now be built, whether that was the planned hotel or more of the student flats?
