If BCC had not agreed a change of use for that land it would have remained a football stadium and the stadium company would have had a totally different attitude towards us

As I understand it Rovers accepted a payment to leave Eastville.
That's not how most of us remember it. Rather the Stadium Company decided to significantly up the rent - well beyond what was affordable - as the land was much more valuable for shopping development.
Not that I would have expected anything from BCC, but they were certainly laissez-faire throughout.
Rovers could have stayed for another year on the same terms but accepted a payment to leave. |

The Dunfords made the right decision at the time to leave aeastville however if my memory is correct we were offered the chance to buy back Eastville circa 1982/1983 for 1 million, but the offer was turned down by Flook & Bradshaw.
Correct me if I'm a little wrong as it was over 40 years ago!

Even if they were £1m over 40 years ago was a massive sum to find, Flook disappeared into the sun set when he won the £50K end of season lottery so he was hardly ever likely anyway to come up with £1m. |

I find it very odd that the club would inform food traders , something that clearly its supporters should be informed of asap. Perhaps the special announcement on Thursday at 1700? |

Assuming it is even true I'd be surprised if we got pp and funding plus contractors instructed in around 12 months. |

I can genuinely see Newport as the answer to any short term move, not that I expect anything to happen quickly. |

I was at the ICC the other week. Took me 35 mins to get there from WSM, which is about the same time it takes me to get to the Mem. For fans in Bristol its a good link from whereever you are to the M32/M4 interchange and probably the same sort of squirt. As a regular traveller to London for work, I know that the county ground is just over an hour away, which for me, makes it too much of a day out for every home game and I suspect a good feww fans would feel the same. |
