Is Grant a LB? He has been played all over the shop and IMO scarcely played well. Gibbons has covered plenty at LB but is Jekyll and Hyde often within a single match. Both need replacing. Neither a good choice anywhere even at LB. In league 2 he played a run of games at LB and he was incredible. About the time of the Oxford win, he scored a few and was one of our main threats. I think he’s pretty good at LB and probably player his best football there. Gibbons on the other hand looks good going forward but a liability at the back sometimes. Can be erratic. I think his injuries have taken a toll, he’s not the player he was in that spell you mention. It’s not just his pace but his reactions are slow too - shame as he looked a promising acquisition when he first arrived.

According to Roadman, Al-Saeed’s son reads the forum - so if that’s the case, I want you to tell your dad that this is on you lot - you’re the ones that f*cked up the JCH deal, sold Loft and left us toothless up front. It’s on you. JCH changed his wage demands en route to the Mem, and we walked away from the deal, they didn't mess up the deal. So are you saying the club lied to both the media and the fans?

Taylor needs 2 transfer windows to mold this team his own and 1 starts next month thank god but let's not slate the man before he's had a chance please 🙏 yes he comes across a little head teacher like and slightly uninspiring to listen to but so does most managers I've seen being interviewed. I think he will bridge the gap for us but he needs a few of his own type players in in key positions to bring the best out of the ones who are worth keeping 😉 But will the new owners back him? Make available the funds to reshape the squad? Pointless appointing MT if they don't as they may have just gone for the cheaper option in Mangan?

Or perhaps playing him at CB has knocked his confidence, perhaps a run of games at LB will now make, or break, his career at Rovers?

One things for sure - we’ve haven’t got an exciting array of options until January.

Teams target Grant because he's slow, unfit and not naturally left footed. Once Derby sussed him out it was game over. I agree he's not the same player, it's understandable considering the amount of time he was injured. Don't think Gordon or Friend is the answer either? Friend is the best of them but he's never going to be fit.

Just listened to the interview with Taylor. I get the feeling he’s getting the wake up call that we’ve all realised recently, that this squad isn’t as good as paper suggests.
I do, however, have complete confidence that with a few additions in Jan and a bit of time, he will steady this ship.
I think tough games coming up will suit us tbh. Playing teams like Cheltenham/Northampton at home are always banana skins. Away to Bolton and home to Pompey is where you give your all.

Some good points here mate (a good Mod) We’ve got some haters on the forum, idiots in Blackthorn End singing this is embarrassing (same lot that sing the IRA song, been in a peace agreement for years lads) and even saw some run to the tunnel to shout at HT at Taylor. We really need to get behind him and the team now, massive up grade on what he had before. He needs window and he needs time to get these players believing in his methods. I really hope our fans get behind him, there is nothing to dislike about the bloke from the start, never wound us up before with an opposition team, not renown for playing good ball, never played for the sh**. So refreshing as well when the interviewer obviously with PTSD tried to get him to comment on Cheltenham’s style of play, Matt Taylor declined to engage in this and stopped any conversation on this.

Let's not lose a game against the bottom of the table team. from going to a 99 percent fan base who believed in promotion to a packed blackthorn bar while the game is on. Don't think the south stand will have many more in it then today

Make no mistake about it. That was the worst performance we have seen since the relegation season. It was absolutely diabolical. It came across like a divided dressing room that doesn't want to play for this manager and we are bang in trouble.
Cheltenham are the worst league 1 team I have seen this season and for many a year but they out fought us and put in more effort than we did all game.

I said on this forum when Mangan was in charge that the club had allowed the manager search to fester for to long and the players had become attached to Mangan, worse than this he had a relatively good body of work to fall back on. I think the same as you that we have a potential Dave Penney situation on our hands here. I do think Taylor is the right man for the job long term but it’s going to be a rocky road for a little while.
