But at the same time the transfer window opens in less than a month, so if they want to play after that, they have to impress the manager now. They will know the board tried to sign JCH, so no one's place is safe if they back the manager in January. It's not like most of them were performing for Barton and buying into his visions. If they did, he wouldn't have been sacked. Do you honestly believe he was sacked on results alone -- Because I don't. He was sacked because he is toxic. The toxicity of JB is what we are seeing in the squad and on this forum. The game on Saturday felt like it was a terrible game. However, have you seen the stats? 62% Posession 16 Shots 4 on target 4 corners 11 fouls Vs Burton: 65% Posession 12 Shots 3 on Target 5 Corners 8 fouls Yet some say we played well against Burton and we played utter rubbish against Cheltenham. I watched the Portsmouth Vs Bolton game last night and the bit I found interesting was how direct they both were. No passing to defender back to keeper back to defender. It was keeper to defender, back to keeper and then keeper hit it long. We have been sold a lie that passing it around the back is 'progressive' however, it is great when you are winning and the opposition can't get the ball. However, we haven't been very good at holding onto a lead for a long time.

When Joey left, BRFC were 7 points off the play offs, and in two cups, not bad especially as Joey has the connections to bring in players like Elliot Anderson during the January window. I hope Tisdale 2 has some sort of connection with the premiership clubs, although I doubt it as he never played at the highest level. That comment is laughable, you don't have to have played at the highest level, to have had contacts at that level. It's not like we were getting a stream of youngsters from the same club. Who did Newcastle loan us after Anderson? Bartons loans were getting worse every season, not better. Who did were sign on loan this season who has improved us?? Plymouths manager had never played at the top level, yet Azez choose Plymouth over us, even though it was further away from his home. All of Plymouths loan players were key in them going up. Loads of times loan players have stood out against us! At the end of the day, money talks. Plymouth got good loan players in, by paying more towards their wages. We hadn’t even played an FA cup before he left 😂

Crewe a Bolton a Blackpool a Pompey h I can see us being out of the cup and 0 points. Those two teams on sky tonight look a cut above. Blackpool on fire and will be Crewe’s cup final who had been on a great run before Saturday, have been very good at home and maybe they had an eye on tomorrow. With talks of dressing room disharmony already I’m slightly concerned. Crewe 0-3 Gas Bolton 1-0 Gas Blackpool 0-2 Gas Gas 1-3 Pompey 3 points out of 9, in for Norwich FA cup draw.

Can't see us getting anything from any of those games. I'm already expecting us to be easily beaten tonight, think this cup game is as tough as the league games that follows. Will need a very good performance tonight!

The 5 games after that are Charlton H, Wycombe A, Barnsley A, Blackpool H, Oxford H. Very tough run of fixtures coming up. Wow, this could end up being a rough couple of months. Didn't it take Ben Garner some time to win his first game? That record could be broken.

Do you honestly believe he was sacked on results alone -- Because I don't. 4 was out of the last 25 league games wasn't good enough, especially after being backed in the market. We have had that debate before. So let's not go over it again and again. Yeah I mean there’s a lot of talk on here that Barton built a side to play a slow passing game out from the back and that’s not Taylor’s style but playing Barton’s style we were 17th in the league when he was sacked. Mangan came in we mixed it up more and he did better from his league matches and took us up to 11th. I really feel and have felt all season that if we moved the ball quicker and played a bit more direct with quicker tempo we would improve and I still think that, the games where we played well and won even under Barton this season we played quicker tempo and didn’t muck about with it at the back - Port vale , Wigan , shrews spring to mind. Also I thought Exeter looked a decent side in our promotion season and last season when we played them, they were hardly a hoof it long ball side, it doesn’t have to be Coughlan or Gardiola they’re at either end of the spectrum of football tactics. There’s a lot in between. I think the hardest job for Taylor is getting the players onside and getting his staff in and integrated quickly so we can stay mid table minimum and not get caught up in a relegation scrap. I’m not sure why there’s so much pessimism on here really , we’re mid table in league 1 which is about as high as we’ve been in the last 25 years it could get worse or it could get better we don’t know but there’s nothing we can do about it either way other than turn up and support the club.

Do you honestly believe he was sacked on results alone -- Because I don't. It doesn't add up to me. Things were hardly that bad this season and I said at the time we weren't far off a good side and needed more work on the training ground and a decent centre forward. If we had a finisher we would arguably have beaten Pompey, Barnsley, Lincoln and Oxford. The manager identified that issue, hence wanting to sign JCH. Sacked when we were 7 points off the playoffs after 14 games, this after the board sanctioned 12 signings in the summer, including a £300k centre half and then allowing the manager to add Chris Martin just a month before his his sacking. Hmmm. Of course he wasn't sacked because of results. I think we all know that. He mouthed off one too many times for the board to be comfortable with him at the helm. I personally think that the decision to part with JB will bite us on the backside big time.

Something that will only register with some on here when the L2 Fixture list is published in July 2024.

I agree with what you have said, but the only issue is if the players are willing to play that way? This group was put together to play a certain way, just hope the players can adapt? Seems modern day teams are put together to play a certain style. Until Taylor can get players out and new players in more suited to his style things are going to be rocky for a while, just hope he's given a chance?

Do you honestly believe he was sacked on results alone -- Because I don't. The results were enough but I also think the new ownership model didn’t like the bloke. I reckon that in part it was due to his (ostensibly) close working relationship with Wael; I don’t think the new people liked that and wanted their own man in.

View AttachmentI do worry at times about where the new owners are leading us, why they bought us, what the plan for us is, and what shocks lie ahead as their master plan is revealed. Of course a large part of this feeling is based on what I read on here, so I probably shouldn't get too concerned.
