I'm not sure that a clear out of players that were out of contract in June is a masterstroke...
Those that explain this window as planning for the future shouldn't be able to reconcile developing other clubs players for the future.. but They will.

I agree but you never know with loans. 1/2 of these may be with an eye for a permanent further down the line just like Taylor, Connolly and Thomas. I’d have liked a permanent striker as well and it’s a shame that we couldn’t get Ennis over the line but when Stoke come in who can blame the man

Personally I'm not fussed we just got loans in.
Realistically we won't go down and we sure won't make play offs, so unless there is real value for money, why spend if in Jan?
We might have 750k to spend in the summer now, that can go on free transfers and wages for better players or offer it for players who's clubs are happier with a lower selling price.
I say well done to everyone this Winter. We got 750k for a bloke who has quite frankly been pi55 poor for months and months, got rid of some of Joeys dead wood, and bought in Conteh who looks very decent indeed and 3 players who will cost us very little and may add to the squad nicely.

Looks decent puts in more effort in this video than we've seen from Azza in recent months.

The reason we have not got a striker is because we expect to sign players for peanuts. How do we expect to succeed when we sell a striker for £750,000 and expect to get a striker in for peanuts. If you want quality then you have to pay for it.I have less faith in this Manager and owner than i had in JB and Wael. the result of this window will be that the home attendances will continue to reduce. A big signing of a striker would have rerignited interest but i shall be happy when we get to 52 points. Unfortunately there is only one team in Bristol interested in moving forward and it is not us.

I see Fernando Forestieri now available on a free. Decent short-term option for a club at our level. View AttachmentLooking at some more data and footage (46 goals and 25 assists in 67 appearances over last 2 years), I'm convinced Forestieri could do a good job for us if we could agree a short-term deal until the end of season. Was reportedly earning £3k per week at previous club. If nothing else, it could be fun to watch! Worth a deal to end of the season if he fancied it?

😆 🤣 W*nker This is the weakest league one has been for years and this bellend thinks that f*cking up the JCH deal and now not even getting a striker in to replace Collins is how we’re going to get to the Prem? At this rate we’ll never make the top 6 in this league, never mind getting promoted to the Championship or the f*cking Prem . . . It’ll be the same story in the summer

Where is the superstar that Disley spoke of ? 😂 I believe Paul posted that about the lad we signed from Grimsby. Would make sense seeming Disley captained them for years.

I’m excited about these players, looking forward to making my own decisions on them rather than everyone else.
As for the Collins money, that’s already gone, sure we’ll have a little but nothing like a £1m. We’ve just built a new stand (kinda) and still losing £££ each year

We’ve just built a new stand (kinda) and still losing £££ each year I agree, we have brought in 4 players, one on a permanent, made a significant amount of cash that can be used in the summer. Everyone always says that the January window is less important because there are never as many decent permanent signings available at a realistic price. Why does every signing have to be 'one for the future'. Can anyone honestly say they expected us to be able to sign Eliot Anderson permanently? And yet he fired us to promotion and we've consolidated since. To be honest, in our current position, does anyone think we have a decent shot at the playoffs? We've got some talented looking loans in and a decent permanent signing, let them take us where they will, and in the meantime start planning for the summer. The bookies have us as 100/1 for relegation and 200/1 for promotion, ever met a destitute bookie? Nope neither have I.

It’s January. Costs are inflated and we don’t have a credible reason to think we are going to surge to the playoffs. MT will want to build his own team and I’d only say now break the bank for the outside chance we will win 8 on the trot if I was a fan who didn’t pay and not an owner!
They know full well the players that cost several hundred thousands now are free in the summer and we can spend that money on wages, because good players need paying.
It’s always frustrating to not get everything you want but I’m sure if we were touching distance this would have been a different window. For now it’s shoring up the depth and we may just keep some of these loans like we did with connolly, Taylor, Thomas etc.
You welcome these lads to the club and they change a manager they can come back.
If I was MT now and had say £2M budget for new players then I would wait. I wouldn’t spunk it on an inflated cost for a striker now. We’ve just done this to Bolton. AC has not really scored for a while…we may have looked to replace anyway so a sale in Jan realises our best price.
This is a business afterall
They may well have the dollar but there’s investing properly and then there’s emotional knee-jerk spending which makes sense only for some fairly pointless victories as I really don’t think we are making a push this year - and what we have already gives us a chance anyway.
Conteh was a genuine long term investment and that’s good business. If it’s there take it but don’t spend stupid money in Jan.
I think with some bite in midfield we have a good shot at it now anyways

Overall I'm content with the signings we've made. But people suggesting that MT is making a wise play to reset in the summer are being foolish.
The average manager tenure is 11 months. A slow start next season could cost him. MT wanted players. He said so- over and over again. Hopefully these loans work out, but again there's an incongruous logic to the planning for the future argument. How much game time do Macca and Connelly get with these lads in...
