I see Fernando Forestieri now available on a free. Decent short-term option for a club at our level. View AttachmentLooking at some more data and footage (46 goals and 25 assists in 67 appearances over last 2 years), I'm convinced Forestieri could do a good job for us if we could agree a short-term deal until the end of season. Was reportedly earning £3k per week at previous club. If nothing else, it could be fun to watch!

Looks just like the player we need very similar to Grant Ward but a lot younger likes to drive on with the ball with pace and power and likes a long shot could be a very good signing if we can pull it off.

Fernando foresteri is now 34 and not played in the uk for the last 4 years. He’s recently been playing in Argentina where he’s from and presumably has family. I’m guessing it’ll take a big offer for him to come to us, it’s a no from me

Harry Kite is highly rated by Matt Taylor and scored against us in Exeter Cities 4-1 win over us. His contract is up in the summer, so Exeter may want to sell now to get a fee rather than wait until the summer and lose him Certainly one to look out for. I know we could get him for nothing in the summer but by paying a fee now it is guaranteed that we get him .

Anyway, he's not recently been playing in Argentina...

I think this is exactly the kind of player we need, we’re very open when teams run at us on the counter and we have very little in terms of defensive midfielder qualities currently. Finley and Ward are both box to box type mids , more of all round midfielders and we don’t really have anyone who can play the makelele role and sit in front of the back line and give us more of a tough central spine.

It's not like he's been sat around doing nothing for 2 years, I'd think of his 69 goal contributions in 67 games over there as him ticking over and keeping his 'eye in' until the real stuff starts with us.

Totally agree, all great teams have them. They are the kind of players you don’t notice and feel don’t contribute massively but when they don’t play, other teams water through the middle of you.

Doesn't exactly rule out a move but claims they've receivced no bids. Like all players, he'll be available at the right price. Whether we're willing to pay that price time will tell. It would be an exciting signing if we can pull it off. Just the type of player we should be going for. Good enough to make an immediate impact but still improving and with the potential to earn us a good profit in the future.

He didn't say we were not interested and the way he mentioned agents a few times, it sounds like his agent could be looking for a pay day. Whether that's to us, or someone else, it sounds like he's not that confident of keeping him.

Just looked on the Grimsby forum again, the page linking him to us, has gone up to 10 pages already! Some say he has a release clause, but don't know how accurate that is.
This comment made my laugh: They have Middle Eastern owners with net worth of £500 m plus have just built a new 3000 capacity stand in 6 months even though they expect to relocate in the future and paid £350k for a 21 year old from Stoke so yes they have the spondoolies.
We can't find any information on their wealth, so I'm not sure where they got that figure from.

Everything else he said is spot on though.

Conteh is the perfect example of the club needing a structure in place for player recruitment, was available five months ago for half the price. You have to wonder what is taking them so long in appointing or announcing improvements in the recruitment and scouting departments, especially after the owner talked of appointing "club staff" and the manager admitting we are "playing catch-up" in that area.

A lot of clubs are in a similar position. How make clubs didn't take a chance on him. Why did Middleborough let him go?? Same with many players. Swansea let Whittaker go for a million, 6 months later Plymouth fans are saying they wouldn't except 10 million and he's being linked with Prem sides. A lot of clubs don't take the risk, in case they get it wrong. I expect for every good player that we say this about, there are loans that didn't step up that we thought could.
