On last seasons form and his recent results with Morecambe’s would Connolly get picked ahead of Grant. I think I’d even pick Hoole ahead of him in a back 3 or 5. We need someone new at CB not resorting back to Connolly. I’d agree about Woods. I wouldn’t have started him today - play Ward for as long as he could manage and then bring on McCormick. Connelly was brilliant for us 18 months ago and is now 18 months older and we have Taylor back now too who he excelled with. I think we’d be mad to write him off , he’s young and he’s ours not a loan. I’m not saying he’s the answer but he might be and if I was Taylor I’d get him back and work with him for the rest of the season and make a decision in the summer. I'd be interested to see how they do in L1 as a CB pairing. We have certainly paid enough money for them to at least give it a try now Wilson is out

Think we would have been better switching to a back four today .... Hoole could have dropped in at RB comfortably....
4-1-3-2 would still have made us competitive today.
I am worried that MT will not be backed in January as the owners son will clearly see we are not going up this season and will decline funds whilst potentially getting the squad trimmed.

If he can’t get in Morecambe’s team he might as well come back and train with us but apart from an injury crisis I wouldn’t want him near the starting XI. I’m not sure who is available to sign but if we get a young CB the manager will be criticised, if he signs an experienced CB he will be criticised for bringing in a “journeyman”. Good luck Matt Taylor !!!

Wilson out for months. Some on here shot me down when I said he was injury prone and a full season at Plymouth was the exception.

The sh** lost , I know it only takes a bit of the pain away but there’s nothing worse than when we lose and those six fingered , knuckle dragging Special lady gardens win.

The manager lost us this today, we are allowed to say this. Woods was a terrible pick, Grant played on as well. This today was a product of Barton and Jennings, Marquis would have made no difference. We simpy have no outlet upfront. Staying until the end, you l just never know! To be fair to MT, I’m not sure he had an awful lot of choice where Wilson, Ward & Marquis were concerned, due to this being the 4th game in 10 days. I do agree though with a lot of others in that Woods offers nothing and pairing him with Finley weakens and slows down our midfield, so sack him off back to his parent club this week please. Likewise Bogarde. I think Gibbons could have played on the right or the three today or even Hoole. And in the middle, I’d have been inclined to play Macca or Brown in the hole supporting a starved Martin of support. He’s learning about his squad and he learned about Woods today plus he needs an outlet up front in this window.

Just got back from Ifollow..
Fair result, too many players just didn't turn up and credit to opposition for marking us up, displacing our formation and pressing us into errors. We didn't do enough of the same back and got what we deserved.
Poor performances from the back 4/5.
Can't win first ball. Struggled to win second ball. Couldn't keep possession. Statues in front of the ball in possession.
Cox thoroughly underperforming as can't control his 6yard area from direct balls into the box. And again his appalling distribution, unforced error leads to a conceded goal.
This is the Rovers players that are under the radar, and as as soon as the team was announced, Grant and Woods (whisky and rum) were always going to be weak links. Poor and below standard.
Positives are coming back, but we shouldn't have created a mountain to climb....Chris Martin gets chances and converts them. Well done, sir!
Well done on the assists, well done on the 85th minute onwards, but in all fairness it was too little, too late and well done Wycombe for sticking to their game plan of exploiting our weaknesses. They deserve their win over a lethargic, lacklustre poor performance and feel sorry for all that travelled.
Not good enough, MT.

Losing Wilson is a massive blow, we look completely different defensively when he doesn't play. Grant getting pelters as per normal but he had gone off before we managed to gift Wycombe 2 goals despite them being down to 10. I like Connolly and think there's a player there but we desperately need some experience. I think we have a 2 week window before the next league game, Norwich is a free hit but really wouldn't fancy going to Barnsley without another centre back added

i noticed that too. Finlay and Woods are nowhere near good enough. Finley’s been brilliant lately and generally good since signing for us and was the best of a very poor bunch in the first half. He’s easily good enough and he’s our captain. Finlay offers little protection to the defence. Nowhere near good enough if serious about promotion.

Thought Cox played well, but was let down by a poor defence, cant argue with the rest though

Thought Finlay laughing his head off after the game , and after playing like he did, was embarrassing for a captain of the club i noticed that too. Finlay and Woods are nowhere near good enough. Have you not seen Finlay’s performances in the previous two games? Guess he’s not good enough again……. Woods should never play again.

How badly have we been hit by continuous injuries to the defence!
Hunt, Wilson and Friend have been out for sustained periods, and we don’t have enough decent cover when we want to play our 3-5-2
Hoping we have our eyes on a dominant centre half early in the window, although I’m not against Hoole starting on the right of a back 3
For January I would
Send back Woods
Bring in a CB, Left back and a striker
Look to extend CM contract for the season
Keep fingers crossed that Brown and McCormick can bring something to the squad
I’m travelling to Norwich so hope we can put out a competitive side, I don’t have any doubts that MT is the right man, keep the faith ladies!
Oh, and happy new year to you all

Thought Cox played well, but was let down by a poor defence, cant argue with the rest though I thought Cox made some good saves but some of them were preventable if he had punched out or even challenged(many refs give keepers benefit) for high crosses into 6yard area. Surely a keeper should command his 6 yard area? But the first went in because HV was out challenged, Vokes done the business on 2nd and the 3rd was a similar goal conceded at Blackpool where he kicked it straight to opposition. Wycombe did their homework, but we were poor at the back today all round and seemed to revert back to Barton era of ponderous passing with little intent and giving possession away, Woods being the most culpable. Yes iFollow is less than perfect at times, it's performance was on a par with the team.
