Anything that requires NHS treatment as a result of choice. On the substance? Nope. On some marketing, maybe. They’ll never ban alcohol bags

They’ll never ban alcohol bags There's rumours from the pub trade that the Govt is already considering reducing the alcohol content allowed to be sold, anywhere, and there could be a minimum price at the sale point to discourage drinking. Smoking deaths per year, 80,000, drink related deaths, 10,000. Once smoking is banned, alcohol is next.

Alcohol won't be banned, maybe some restrictions but of itself that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Devil in the detail, but can't see it myself.

Doing all that would literally kill off hospitality and ruin the economy. Even is Starmer wanted to do it, there’d be riots and he’d be forced to resign and they’d back track. It won’t happen.

I think you can do a lot of things to the British public and they'll accept with a shrug and a sigh, such as the smoking ban in pubs and now almost everywhere, Covid lockdown and vaccinations, and a new Prime Minister every five minutes, like we're Italian or something, But berating the beloved booze will never be tolerated.

Boris Johnson interview with Laura K coming up in early October. Anyone fancy watching an hour of sycophancy? 🤔

Caught a bit of Rachel Reeves' speech today, thought she sounded almost human.

Yvette Cooper rightly calling out the summer riots as thuggish racist scumbags unlike some on here who claimed they had “legitimate concerns” 🙄

Didn't she also claim Labour’s Border Security Command was working (despite not even hiring a Border Security Commander yet)? Pretty sure we are on-track for the largest ever summer of Channel crossings, accompanied by a large number of fatalities...

Those record crossings & deaths will be down to the last gov and their policies. Hopefully in the coming yrs things improve.

Some good news at last because I was fearing the wurst. The steaks were high with this appointment so it's surprising it took them 74 days to find someone- although I assume they had to grill the secondary candidates when Neil Basu turned them down after frank discussions. Good to see Martin Hewitt has the roll...

Starmer and Cooper promised to "...smash the gangs..." and on July 7th promised to set up the agency, recruit it's commander and make an immediate impact. Given peak season is July-Aug you would have to assume the immediate impact they were talking about was the past few months... ...especially as Home Office statistics for July 2023 to June 2024 (under the Conservatives) actually showed “irregular arrivals” fell by 26% and there was a 36% reduction in the asylum backlog, potentially because 'migrant returns' rose by a fifth, 'enforced returns' rose by a half....so things were improving even before the Rwanda plan had started....

Smash the gangs in two months ? 😂 Sorry Super but you can’t hang this mess on them and I expect you’re just being mischievous. I would expect some progress next summer though after they get a chance to put their plans into action.
