It's irrelevant as they are unlikely to firm the next government, Starmer's quip about being like Corbyn's was good. Thursday will be more interesting with Labour's manifesto being launched.

Didn't think you needed a heart to vote Tory? I find that very offensive! 😡 Second vote for Reform now, guess the Conservative plans weren't enough.

Would that be the very same Corbyn that Starmer fully supported, backed and campaigned for twice to become PM.

I've seen plenty suggesting that he'll be facing a left wing coup in a year or that he's just a placeholder, a Trojan Horse PM. Can't see that at the moment.

Fractionally - it's dropped from a high of 79.3 for men to 78.6, and from a high of 83.0 for women to 82.6 - nowhere near enough to bring the cost back to a sensible level. The wider picture is that without change it is unsustainable. If the age you get the state pension was index-linked in the same way as the £-value, and even if we take a 'late' year like 1970 as the index point, then both men and women would be retiring around a decade later than they currently do. Immediately that's billions of billions of pounds that could be spent on other things... How do other most other European countries pay out far more in state pensions and they retire earlier as well I think ? The baby boomers have led such a privileged life , free education, retiring early , bought dirt cheap housing and seen the prices grow massively etc etc…… then shaft everyone younger than them by voting for Brexit 🙄🇬🇧 Well here's where you really get into tricky details. I've seen the claims as well about payouts and ages but they are rarely comparing like-with-like. Myths first (and let's stick to the bigger countries). State pension eligibility in 2021 was 65 (and 9 months) in Germany, 67 (and 7 months) in France and 67 in Italy. The UK was 66 so at the lower end. By 2046 the UK age is planned to be 68. It will be 67 in Germany by 2031 and 67 in France by this year (? maybe election result dependent). So again the UK is in line with most similar nations. In terms of cash, have you been believing social media again? There were quite a few posts doing the rounds pre and post-Brexit comparing state pension payouts, but they were misleading at best and lying at worst. The UK state pension is essentially a flat rate with the amount dependent on years of contributions and age. If you earn more you could and should be putting it into a private/company pension which is where you would get equivalent sums back... In France in 2016 the minimum state pension (ie the lowest paid workers across their whole career who qualified) was £130-£150. In Germany there was/is no minimum as it's a direct calculation against what you have paid in. In the UK it was £125-£165. So again the UK is in the same ballpark...

Sounds like your classic fear mongering from certain sides again. Not a chance Starmer takes from from barely any seats to a huge majority, just to be kicked out

Not a chance Starmer takes from from barely any seats to a huge majority, just to be kicked out The Labour Party under Starmer has consolidated to the center ground just as it did under Blair leading up to the 1997 election. The left hate it as they see it as a betrayal, the Tories hate it as many of them see it as their "ground" Cue mud slinging from both political spectrums. Blair held tight and repeated the electoral result 4 years later and even after his disgrace over Iraq still won a 60+ seat majority in 2005. Let's hope Starmer does something with it.

Makes you laugh really, they didn't seem to be so bothered by such a huge majority when Boris took it
