AC needs to move on now … he has been let down by the owner who backtracked on an improved contract… that’s enough to upset anyone.
He also hangs around with a very bad bunch - all of whom get free tickets for every game and are a bad influence on any professional. Time to go now and thank you for the memories.

If it's true that the owner's son offered Collins a new contract back in Sept and then pulled it that stinks. It also, for me, puts a completely different light on his performances afterwards. No wonder he looked pi$$ed off and disinterested. I think if most of us were offered a wage rise by our employer and then had it taken away we'd feel the same. No issue with him not playing yesterday either if the club have been actively seeking to offload him. Why would we have offered him a new contract last September, he would have still had 2 years to run on the current deal. Let’s face it he had a great few months when Elliot Anderson was running riot and good start the following season to Christmas since then he has been bang average.

We can afford to play hardball now 2 clubs are interested - would like us to get a £1m for a player that cost us nothing. We need to become like Peterborough Wrexham aren’t interested at the moment. Think he’s too expensive

Makes me laugh, I said before Wrexham were keen but put off by the asking price! That may change and they may come back in but as it stands if he leaves it won’t be for Wrexham As I said (again) Wrexham no longer keen due to the asking price. Bolton is where he’ll probably end up if he goes before the window closes. x.com/danjhargraves/status/1751554235739566340?s=46Sounds like our valuation is about £900k then ("just shy of £1m"). I firmly believe he'll go to Bolton, regain his confidence in a positive, promotion-anticipated environment and do well in the Championship. I understand others saying about his poor form for a while but I firmly believe he's Championship quality in the right system. We'll see I guess. Either way, if we rejected approx. £600k then I think we'll meet in the middle at £750k probs. Sign Sam Smith for £450k and that'd be good business getting him and Conteh for the Collins fee.

I see we've turned down a bid of £600k from Bolton. Interesting. Where? Got a link?

The first point has been made by others on this and other threads. So we haven’t offered him a improved contract? I'm not sure why we would. The only information circulating is likely to be via the player or agents, not the club. The current gossip agenda is anti owners but you wouldn't expect their version of events to be heard or available

We play Bolton at home … if he does go there what odds on Collins diving for a penalty and getting it ….

Funny how easily one of our best players is being ridiculed and abused by many. Maybe the right coaching and encouragement would get him firing again, who knows but I find it odd that so many can turn, so quickly. Just an observation. I know football is a very fickle game.

Any club shelling out decent money for Collins right now will be a gamble. While he more than proved himself in L2 (and we'll always herald his contribution) it's fair to say he hasn't kicked on in L1, advancing the way we all hoped. Yes there has been signs, but there have equally been games where he's been low profile and you can't help watching and thinking you can be better than that.
That said I think there's an argument that Collins needs a new challenge.

I'll take 750k now (paid up front, not in instalments) and with a sell on clause. Last summer if we had sold him for 1.5/2 million many people would have been furious we didn't get more. But I think if we don't cash in on him now, nobody will be offering anywhere near 600k in the summer.

Jilted lover syndrome. Doesn't want to be with us anymore and arguably has wanted out for a while. I like him and would have loved him to find his form again but in all honesty I think we've already seen the best of him. Jevani Brown looks at the same level as Collins when he first arrived to us, but did well in his last game for us. My opinion is Brown may have a higher ceiling than Collins (hopefully) and that Taylor can help him reach that

In the same way with us being mid table it wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't sign another striker this month if we were not getting any value for money as we are not desperate, even if Collins does go.

In hindsight, it would've been the optimal time to sell him in the summer gone after a brilliant season statistically and L1POTY. £2m+ would've been the request - but we would've lambasted the club's perceived lack of ambition etc. That said, I agree now - just take the money and crack on.

Surprised Bolton feel he's good enough to help them get promoted this season and then play in the Championship next season if they get promoted based on his current form, unless he's been deliberately under performing in recent games.

Doesn’t make it true. The gossip circle keeps repeating it so it’s now gaschat fact Odd time to offer someone a contract who had almost 2 years left on one so if true probably a good call to not throw more money away?
