Talking to an Exeter fan he commented how bad our keeper was ...... Can only assume if he is picked on the weekend it is because we have signed up to some sort of must play cause. Give Jed Ward a go - at least he is our own and if it does not work out so be it. Not sure why we signed Hall as he is not even making the bench.

Taylor is a fairly dour guy and I took that interview mainly to mean that we have a crocked squad and who is left is tired. The concerning parts were about the mentality of the squad, and speak of not coping with the pressure etc which is either really bad PR or trying to provoke a reaction. Leaders should always provide some positives and be convinced of future success. The only other logical reason he’d talk his team down would be to elicit a response. Or he could be possibly poor at interviews, shared his thoughts on his team and then backtracked and said don’t blame them buck stops with me. It was never going to be a positive post match. It’s not so much the score line but that first half was really awful. At least under Barton we were dominating games and losing. We were not dominating games - that is simply untrue. On possession maybe? But nothing else. Passing the ball around aimlessly, deep inside your own half does not count as "dominating"! Possession. We are exactly the same now in terms of soft goals but now we can’t keep the ball either.

I hate Interesting point, and on a one match basis that post might stand up. The thing is, most Gas are incredibly loyal. So, apart from the traffic light season (where he was unstoppable), AC has been up there with his assists and even formed a great striking partnership for coburn. He still is up there with assists this season. JB? His contributions by comparison? I don’t like it when the crowd get on the backs of individual players examples - cox and Brown - once a player puts on the shirt you have to encourage rather than criticise, in most cases it’s counter productive. 💙🤔Utg Great post and totally agree. I've never booed. Never....well not at our own players. Refs and Bob Taylor, perhaps. But am afraid people's pay their moneys and people's have their say. I understand everyone's frustrations. Norwich (at their place) supported the team during the match and reserved boos at full time.... that's a tad classier.

Still a load of belters dishing out unnecessary hate on Jevani Brown tonight then. Meanwhile Aaron Collins gets off scot free for not giving a toss about the game, again. Funny that… Collins has taken stick all season long, well.. all year long if you include last season. Collins even got stick in last nights game on here and at the match. Both need to improve considerably

I actually thought that Javani Brown was our best player when he came on. Always looking to move the ball FORWARD which certainly couldnt be said for Luke Thomas last night. I actually think it would be worth building the midfield around Brown even going to an old 4-4-2 with Collins and Martin up front and the midfield pushing up and stopping the opposition from coming forward instead of the present where you have one player expected to run around like a demented chicken whilst everyone else is back in our half. Taylor to me does not seem prepared to change but if he doesnt i fear we are going to find ourselves filling one of the bottom four places come May.

I agree about Brown being useful when he came on, it's the most effective I've seen him and he played one or two lovely passes. It gives me hope that if we stick with him we'll see more of why we brought him in. The match was dreadful, as were the conditions. Losimg Taylor early on was a massive blow and without Martin and Ward too I feared the worst. Finley looked out of sorts and Thomas not at it either. I'm sure we've got enough to stay up but could do with minimum of two players in this window to be sure

I respect that others pay their monies and therefore have a right to react. However, where does a "toxic atmosphere" get us as a club. Does it improve confidence? Does it motivate others? Does it add to the match experience? According to MT - players are lacking confidence, are not in a good place mentally . . . and even struggling with the physicality of 2 games a week. How can anyone possibly believe that booing and ridiculing players can help with any of those factors? Come on Gasheads, aren't we better than that?

You’d seriously put Brown in the middle of a two man midfield?

Maybe not him in the middle of a 4-4-2, would leave us very open. But other than that I agree, he showed signs yesterday that he could be a key player in this team. I'd like to see MT play him from the start and focus the attack through him in a number 10 role. Certainly showed glimpses of creativity and forward thinking that we lack massively at the moment. A lot of the players still seem to be playing the JB method of keeping the ball at all costs, which is great until players run out of ideas and just go backwards and left to right. Possession football, like what JB was trying to instill is great on the eye if you're Man City but lower league players often lack creativity to make it work well. We've gotta start mixing it up and someone like Jevani Brown could be the key to unlocking defences at this level.

Brown came on and was only second to flash as our most forward thinking player, got the ball down and played countless passes behind their full backs into the channels for Collins/Vale & LT to latch onto, the bonus being they actually stayed in play! Was also very unlucky to have been shut down at the last second just as he was going to pull the trigger after a neat turn in the box.
A real shame the boo boys can barely acknowledged it, whilst pretending the rest of the midfield did a sound job last night🤡

Probably unlucky not to equalise. I would of started him, he has excellent control and can hold defenders off, the rest of the team had real problems controlling the ball but he made it look easy.

Well, that was rubbish. Have kept away from this place after getting home very, late. Crap match, awful journey. Don’t like criticising individuals but I hope Jed Ward replaces Cox on Saturday because that was pretty woeful. Not much else to say.

4-1 Rovers. What to expect from Exeter. We are the poorest team Ive watched in many a year, probably not since a certain G.Francis was in charge. Sweeney (todd) will get booked early on and will lose the pace and the plot at some point with our fans. Aimson (Aimless) and Wildschut (Wildshot) enough said. Tom Carrol will pass every ball backwards. Expect lots of meaningless triangle passes in and around our 18 yard box. Silly short corners that will end up with our keeper. If we start with or bring on James Scott have a laugh( we normally do). Off to sit in the £28 south stand! Well, I got that wrong...even the ticket price £26 not £28 but certainly not £10. Looked like a different Exeter (and Rovers team) turned up last night with a performance that surprise me and others there. Goal from Sonny Cox and against Matt Cox. Could have been 2 or 3. I still believed my 4-1 prediction was still on for the second half with wind on Rovers on side but big miss from Vale and not enough control by rovers generally as Exeter weakened towards the end. The goal from Marquis looked very close call as well. Rovers definitely need to sort out the defence and the soft coles conceeded and agree that a new (or even old) keeper is needed. Shame that some Exeter fans gave Matty Taylor some stick. Interesting response to Jevani as well. I liked them both and still hope they will do well for the gas. As for Exeter, that result means we will be still stuck with 'unsackable' Caldwell for the forseeable. And South Stand, great view but cant wait to sit in the home end next time!

Agree re Brown and Gordon when they came on but the cross of the game and what should have been another assist came from Collins. Vale should have scored. Get them both firing with Martin and we will have no problems up front.
