On the subject of past keepers. Paul bradshaw died yesterday. Mainly known for his time at wolves but did play 5 games for us during the 1986 87 season where we just about stayed up and finished the season with a eventful trip to Somerton Park

A keeper who had a great career and has past at a relatively young age. RIP.

Bernard Hall is at the match today.
Another of the long list of what ifs.
Easy for every club to say but he had to retire at such a young age.
If Martin Thomas, Wayne Jones, Jamie Shore, Andrew Evans etc never had those injuries.
We could say the same in more recent years Ollie Clarke, THD, Alfie Kilgour, Josh Grant. If they never had those injuries (that probably would have ended their careers just 10-15 years earlier but for the advance in sport science), they probably would be playing at at much higher standard.

Bernard was fearless. Got kicked in the head by a CF at home to Crewe(?) finished his career but carried on as a groundsman . Think it was against Middlesbrough - John O’Rourke. You are correct

But I well remember watching Bernard Hall playing. Not only was he fearless, but he was a very good shot stopper and despite not being very tall, was a wonderful servant to Bristol Rovers. It was tragic that his career was cut short by that terrible head injury. He was replaced by Laurie Taylor. Another relatively short goalkeeper.

I was there at that match - end of the year some time.... Terrible time to remember. His wife became the Club Secretary I seem to remember. Yep I was at that game as well, the thing that sticks in my mind was there was no Dr etc just St John's folk, you do wonder how much post injury treatment contributed to the outcome.
