Just short of 60 years supporting and still enjoying it as much now as then. The biggest difference for me is the travelling. Went to Exeter today by train.long way with 4 changes but the driving esp in the dark has become much harder. Loved it today but boy am I tired!! Biggest difference in the football for me is the advent of social media.i know so much more today by folliwingcthis place and a few others and too many people expect us to be Man City, they have no grasp on reality. I dontcreally mind if we get to the Championship or not. Of course it would be great but I've enjoyed the 6 promotions I've seen and I've had a lot more excitement from our promotions than most PL and even Championship clubs. So I wouldn't change it. I just enjoy watching the football and the wins against Scunthorpe, D and R, Grimsby, Shrewsbury amongst others have given more memories than other bigger clubs. And at the end of the day its just a game and you come home and family life is going on around you and sometimes needs more of your time. Or at least mine seems to!! But what a great day for Jed Ward and Brandon Aguilera one I bet they remember. Well done to both. UTG!

Not enough categories for me, 66 years from age 7. Agree not enough categories first went to Eastville when 7 now 73 so as above 66π Me above post. 74 in feb so 66/67 years supporting the Gas. Neighbour first took me aged 7. My dad and brothers were/are sh** supporters so my neighbour saved me from hell !!. At that time I lived in Henbury and became totally addicted at 7. I moved to Perth Oz in 1976 after many months travelling overland to Nepal before flying down to Perth .Been back many many times and have always got a few games in. IFollow opened up a new world so Iβm either watching 10/11 pm depending on daylight saving or alarm on 3/4 am for the evening kickoffs. The wife definitely thinks I have something wrong with me π€π. planning on a couple of months aug/sept purely for following the gas as Iβve been promising myself for years to just do it. Stoney UTG

Born a Rovers fan as Grandad played under Bert Tann in the 50s. First game was at Twerton against Birmingham in late 80s I think, although it might have been Portsmouth... Started going regularly with School mates around 92/93 and was called up by Rovers for YTS at 16 but didn't make it. Did the 'lads' phase for a bit.. Left home at 20 so lost momentum, got to travel and meet other people and realised that English football and the emotion attached, isn't as important we might think it is.
The Internet has changed behaviours between football fans, with the ability to comment immediately rather than reflect and address over time. The game is now a complete business rather than a pastime/hobby for supporters. Those players do not care about us although they make out they do. The owners only want to maximise profit rather than do it because they genuinely care.(there is a small handful of owners who have a bond but it's rare) It's a distraction.
We have an older fanbase who see us as rivals to the teds. In reality we are a Vale to Stoke, an Everton to Liverpool, a County to Forest a Walsall to West Brom. Miles off.
I'm just hoping that the new owners can tidy the club up a bit, because it's grubby. They could start by encouraging new local talent with affection for the club to join in unofficial capacity. Agreements with local schools and businesses. Fans groups and a footprint across the City for people who don't live close to the ground to feel connected.

Agreements with local schools and businesses. Fans groups and a footprint across the City for people who don't live close to the ground to feel connected. I can identify with a lot of that. (Just donβt tell the Everton fans that!!) Some players do care but from a more personal pov perhaps. And of course when we were at our highest place in the 50s with the maximum wage there was little incentive to move clubs. And until the advent of the PL the wages difference between Division 1 and lower leagues were not so large, now they are massive and players want the wages even if they sit on the bench. Very different mind-set then to now. Your last paragraph spot on but Iβm not hopeful. π UTG!

First game Sept 1952 against Torquay Utd Well done. So you must have seen some of those games in the 50s and the season when we nearly made Division 1 only to fail in the last few games. You must have seen some changes. I hope you still get as much enjoyment from it. UTG!

I saw most of the big stars of the time at Eastville Inc the Busby Babes, John Charles of Leeds and the massive cup game against Newcastle (40k gate). Favourite players George Petherbridge, Barry Mayer, Dia Ward, Harry Bamford and later on the Baron, Harold and Johnny Williams.UTG

My Dad is 92 tomorrow and still watching Rovers in the SW/South Stand. He started watching Rovers in the forties. My first match was October 1971, a 0-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Eastville in front of a 20,000 crowd. Hooked ever since. Still look forward to every home game, that has not changed in over 50 years.

Massive queues at Eastville on Sunday i believe for tickets, Am i right in thinking it was the 6th round and we took the lead at Eastville before ending up losing 3-1? you certainly have some wonderful memories, some ,but not all , of which I share with you and others, great stories ,thank you.!

Mid 30s first game was at the old Wembley in 95.
First home game a few years later at the Mem. No cover on any of the terraces then.
So over 25 years now. Yikes.

I first watched Rovers when aged 11 the season after England won the world cup in 1966 - 3-1 win v Bury. The biggest changes since then for me have been The entitlement and the expectation brought around by social media People demand every thing now and feel they are entitled to it. We see it on here. We want better owners with more money; new ground; new facilities; better management; better background staff; a scouting team; U21 team ; progression of our youngsters to the 1st team not developing other teams players; more seats and tickets; better communication - the list goes on. And why β¦β¦β¦.. because we are Bristol Rovers and we are entitled and we want it now. God life supporting Rovers was so much simpler and easier then despite the terrace fighting !!
